Mountain terrain is grey colored and covered with boulders, sparse trees and lots of cliffs. Glimmermoss, Legacy:Edelweiß and Frog's Crown may be found here, as well as stone nodes and Feldspar. Because of this other players and villages often try to claim them.
If you dig on mountain terrain you collect stones. When you dig up a stone above quality 10, then a stone node is nearby. These can often reach high levels of quality (50+ is possible).
Mountain terrain can be paved without the need to plow it first.
