A mudflat is a barren brown area, only inhabited by the occasional stray animal. While mudflats cannot be plowed, you can pave or plant grass on them. It is also possible to build directly on them, though inadvisable because of decay.
Some people refer to Mudflats as Deserts.
Curiosities endemic to mudflats are the Tangled Bramble and the Thorny Thistle. Acre Clay can only be obtained from digging on mudflats. Feldspar occurs non-exclusively on mudflats. Hazel nut trees rarely grow in mudflats.
In spite of similar appearances, using the "Stomp to Dirt" landscaping command does not produce mudflat terrain and can therefore not be used to create artificial acre clay nodes.
