A steel crucible is necessary for refining bars of wrought iron into bars of steel. For information on how to operate the crucible, read the 'How to Acquire' section on the 'Bar of Steel' page.

Contrary to what the patch note below seems to clearly imply, steel DOES reset ALL of its progress if steelbox (ingame window name) runs out of fuel. Steelboxes were always the exception to other stuff not resetting - there was a period where everything reseted to eliminate the fuel bug before a proper fix.

Steel crucible quality seems to be calculated by the formula ${\frac {{WroughtIronBar}+{AvgBrick}+{AvgStone}}{3}}$
