Quality degradation

I'm not sure if I should add this or if this is just coincidence but it seems like items left in stockpiles too long gradually lose quality. Can anyone confirm? Fevix (talk) 01:12, 10 October 2017 (EDT)

Hey fevix, thanks for taking the time to make this page. No, objects in stockpiles don't lose quality. It's usually seems like that though because older items are stored 'on the bottom', so it may seem items will lose quality when in reality they player is just making better, newer things

Stockpile Properties

An idea comes - maybe stockpile should be a new template to show up in infobox?
--Kitsuneg (talk) 11:34, 6 December 2018 (EDT)

Just thought about potentially saving stockpile data too. Although I also wonder if its really useful to save them. With that I mean if stockpile-size-data is also used (or is useful) on other pages?
Mmm, from an object-page point of view one would need/want to specify a stockpile type (on related object-pages). But the stockpile size is more related to the used stockpile than the object you trow in it. So the stockpile-size-data should not be specified on the separate object pages, but on a separate stockpile-type pages. (if one uses the default way of specifying properties that is).
As there are currently no separate stockpile pages, Using SMW sub-objects to save that data to properties seems the next best thing for now.
Nts: Items that can go in a particular stockpile-type could be specified on either the related object page, or (probably) included in the sub-object data. (both ways should allow displaying stockpile info in the object's infobox).
I currently don't see any other potential stockpile data than stockpile-type and stockpile-size (o yea, which item they accept). If there are any more, let me known. (other than potential stockpile images of course)

Size should be only on stockpile pages - yes. Well. For the personal stockpile pages - i think about x/y size - but they are all 1x1, just like earth or metal that can't be placed properly and their actual size like 1.5 x 1.5 and 1.5 x 1.
Nothing more comes to mind.
P.S. If you decide to create all that pages, i have people to gather screens for all stockpiles at all stages of fullness.
--Kitsuneg (talk) 10:38, 24 March 2020 (EDT)

Think you mean "but they are (not) all 1x1". So instead of a int it would take a float (x&ysize would be fine with this)
Stockpile stage images are welcome either way. I see no problem using them on this general stockpile page. And when/if separate stockpile pages are in play, moving(display) them to there.

...

Added basic stockpile marker-type parameter to metaobj. As it stands the best input parameter seems to be the/a stockpile-type name. Stockpile-types data is probably best stored/set with SMW-#subobject's (on one page vs using multiple pages). --.MvGulik. 04:50, 2 November 2021 (UTC)

Manual moving large stockpile.

Some stockpile guide idea(wip).

  • Main target: Soil stockpiles. (as placing/creating soil stockpiles with a Wheelbarrow requires a 3x3 tile flat area, which is not always available.)
  • Animation/gif ...
  • Making use of the fact that one can transfer the content from one source stockpile(1) directly into a second target stockpile(2). Without needing any free hearthlings inventory space.
  • Related stockpiles(1,2) need to be in range of the hearthling so they can be both opened at the same time.
  • A third helper-stockpile(3), of some other type (like a branch or bark stockpile) can be used to extend the distance between the stockpiles(1,2).

Bare steps:

  • Create target stockpile(2).
    • When using a third helper-stockpile(3), place it in between stockpiles(1,2). Center the hearthling on it, and open it first.
  • Open source stockpile(1) - (it needs to stay open)
  • Open, or reopen target stockpile(2) - (Order is important here)
  • Click [take] in source stockpile(1) UI-window.
    • (move/clear hearthlings inventory of rest items that might be placed there. Having no free inventory space prevents this step)

Stockpile footprint.

Currently the full stockpile table(preview only please) shows some calculated footprint data. But with the newer n/66 usage its probably better to print the raw input (ie: 6/11 x 6/11). --.MvGulik. 11:25, 16 June 2022 (UTC)

Implemented fractional(txt) support. But, although highly accurate, its not better in giving some sense of the stockpile footprint size. The decimal rounded to 3 digits behind the comma has a similar issue. Rounded to 1 digit is probably the best, when it comes to giving some general size sens. ... A graphical alternative could be showing the footprint in relation to the tile-grid. But I'm currently not exploring that idea any further. --.MvGulik. 18:50, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
