Mouflon can be fed Clovers by right-clicking a mouflon with it. This allows them to be shorn for Wool of a quality level equal to the clover fed. They can be shorn as many times as they are fed clovers, and if fed multiple clovers they will be shearable for however many they were fed.

If multiple clovers of different quality are fed to the same sheep without sheering it, then all the clovers will average to one quality. Example: A sheep is fed a Quality 20, 30, and 10 clover then shorn. All three wool extracted will be quality 20. (Require testing for Hafen)

Paved ground is the result of laying stone, which requires Stone Working. Paving terrain requires plowing first (grasslands, mudflats, heaths and mountains do not need to be plowed to pave). The benefit of paving land is that stamina drain is reduced when running and sprinting and that most structures don't decay on claimed paved land and decay slowly on unclaimed paved land.

Notes
*If you make a mistake get some seeds into your inventory and use the Adventure>landscaping plant grass to turn it into grass tiles. You can then plow it again.

*If you pave where crops are growing they will keep growing. They can still be harvested when they mature.

*Paved land will decay back to the tile under it after a long time. It takes much longer than plowed land. Many people pave so that they can run fast and so they do not see weeds.

*There is a 2 tile clearance which is unpavable along coastal areas and thickets. However thicket tiles can be plowed to allow the clearance necessary to pave within a thicket.

Ancestral Worship is a skill that allows you to sacrifice items of your ancestor's desires to an Ancestral Shrine, which gives you numen points that can be used to pray for various things (see Prayers section). To sacrifice an item, left-click it to hold it in your hand, and then right-click the ancestral shrine.

You may check what your ancestors desire under the Worship tab of your character sheet. At any time, they will desire 3 items: sacrificing the first (left-most) item will allow you a chance to gain numen points based on your Tradition/Change belief, whereas sacrificing one of the other 2 less desired items will merely reset which items they desire. Since you can only gain numen for sacrificing the first item, you should only sacrifice one of the others when the first item is too difficult for you to acquire. If you sacrifice items of a lower quality rating than the amount of numen points you have, you will lose a numen point instead. This applies regardless of whether the primary or secondary desires are fulfilled.

Pressing the forfeit button has the same effect as fulfilling a secondary desire but costs half of the currently available Numen points. Only use this if you cannot or don't want to fulfill any of the three desires. Exception is of course when you have zero Numen points, then forfeiting is an easy way to find a good first sacrifice.

The number of numen points you gain is based on your Tradition/Change belief. If you are full Tradition, you have a 100% chance to gain 3 numen points; at full Change, you have a 1/3 chance of even getting 1 numen point.

Note
A character that has just started and has no real ancestors instead has fake ancestors with stats of 10, 20, and 40, giving an average of 30 stats for use in determining the effect of prayers.
Prayers
You get a new Prayer menu when you get enough numen for a prayer.
Light of the Ancestors, 3NP: Light effect on your character determined in strength by the perception + exploration of your ancestors. The effect lasts six ingame hours.

Prayer for Strength (Einherjeraspekt), 40NP: Strength, melee, unarmed and ranged combat values of your ancestors are added to yours. By 50% of your latest ancestor, 25% of that's ancestor's ancestor, and finally 12.5% of that ancestor's ancestor all added together. This effect lasts for one full ingame day, or 8 real-life hours.

In-Game Text
"For the ancestors!"

Ancestral Worship allows your character to gain numen points by sacrificing to his ancestors. You can see your ancestors' desires in the "Worship" submenu of your character sheet. Numen points can be used for various effects, all lending you some of the strength of your predecessors.
A timber house is a large structure which can be entered. Inside is a 6x6 tiles housing in which furniture or liftable containers can be stored. Anything liftable left in a timber house will not decay making it a good storage area especially for Cupboards, which are notorious in being destroyed in one decay hit. Because of this, most houses tend to hold cupboards, which are excellent storage containers once the downsides has been negated with housing. Any items that can go into the inventory dropped here can still be lost, however.

How to Acquire
First, there needs to be a 7x7 paved ground for the timber house to set down. See Terraforming for information on how to plow a field and lay stone. Timber houses require a lot of wood and Bough (you can use any bough) so be sure to have plenty of Trees nearby. After retrieving all the materials, it has to be set for 3 days before construction. Finally timber houses always face the south.
*The ladder will place you in a random area in the world. Alone.

Hope you enjoy my little tutorial, I left the old way to get out for educational purposes.

This page is obsolete on the new maps. 'World 2 had a central spawning point called Ring of Brodgar.

All new characters would spawn at this place, and it thus tended to be a treeless wasteland.

Just started the game and found yourself in a strange devastated area, with claims everywhere and no resources?

The nearer you are to the main starting points, the fewer resources and the more claims you will find. This is because the starting points see the hardest usage. To find trees, wilderness and other resources you need to move out.

At the moment the main starting point is the Ring of Brodgar, a Stonehenge like ring of stones. There are a couple of ways you can travel. Wandering around randomly will probably make you think you are in a horrible maze, and ultimately lead to starving to death or quitting.

If there is a square up on the top left of your computer screen labeled "Baby Blue Eyes" this means you can click on the charter stone in the middle of the Ring of Brodgar and teleport to some other charter stone.

This will only work until you have actually interacted with something at your starting point, so if you want to travel out this way you have to do it first thing.

If you see someone in the City of Brodgar you can ask them for directions.

The City of Brodgar is meant to help new players. Anyone you meet will probably be willing to give you some advice and show you the roads. Of course they may not speak English. There are a lot of international players.

You can also teleport using crossroads.

To find the nearest crossroads at Brodgar you need to start by finding the city idol. If you go to the idol you will find very near it a row of posts with crossroad signs on it and by right click the post you can choose a destination to travel to. There is a very linear route to get to the idol. If you head just a short distance diagonally up and left you will be traveling due west on the minimap. As soon as you reach the corner of a palisade(tree-trunk wall) turn north. In a short distance there will be a house with a yellow thatched roof on your right, and a gate into another part of the palisade. This will lead you through a narrow path until you reach a large paved area where the idol stands with blazing eyes. Look down at the lower left of your screen at the minimap as you walk north. There is a white skullface on red which represents the town idol of the City of Brodgar. The crossroads are just to the left of the idol.

To teleport from a crossroads you need to have enough agility. You start with agility 10. If the locations listed says that the travel weariness is higher than 100% it means that you can't make the teleportation jump. You will be able to make bigger jumps when you have higher agility.

Currently Radstock and SwampCrazed Water are two locations you could jump to that will take you to level 1 animals (not ferocious) and some trees including apple and mulberry trees for food. This will probably change. If you go to SwampCrazed Water you will have to wade to get around the corners of the town wall, but can follow the bank to get out to an open area that is easy to explore.

Lake Russaria is another location within teleporting distance for a new player.&nbsp; However as it is located in a fir forest there are no immediate fruit trees to rely on and the animals are level 3 and will attack your character, survival is just a bit more difficult.

(If anyone would like to edit and place a list of further suggested locations to jump to that take less than 100% travel fatigue, please do it here.)

Supposing you don't want to teleport since until you have a bed you can't sleep off travel weariness, or you went somewhere and it was a bad idea, so you came back and don't have the ability to teleport again? And there seems to be nobody around. You can actually walk out of Brodgar.

HOW&nbsp;TO&nbsp;WALK&nbsp;OUT&nbsp;OF&nbsp;BRODGAR

Begin at the idol - there are instructions to get from the ring of stones to the idol a little way above - Turn to your right and look for an open palisade gate a little to the south-west of the idol. Go through this and walk west. Whenever you can walk west and north. This will bring you eventually to a clear cut area where a few animals wander through a barren landscape and there are not enough claims to entrap you. You still need to walk until you find plenty of trees including mulberry and apple trees for food however. You don't want to stop forever at the very first tree you find although if food is not a problem you might want to stop for twenty minutes or half an hour to build fires and earn your first lp, especially if it is dark.

Because the south, north and west of RoB is surrounded by rivers you can't cross until you find enough trees to build a boat you will need to keep going east. If you keep the water on your right and just keep trekking along you will find lots of trees and eventually wind your way down towards the south part of the world.&nbsp; If you bear north-east you will find yourself able to turn north and get to the top of the map. You can also keep going due east.

Lands to the East are under the protection of Xanadu. Peaceable settlers may want to go in this direction.
A charter stone is a location that, when built, freshly created characters may teleport to from the creation room. If there are any charter stones in the world, the character creation room will have a trapdoor, which on click allows you to choose a chartered village to join. The "Baby Blue Eyes" status allows you to teleport between charter stones until it wears off, or until the character interacts with any other game object. It must be built on village claim, and cannot be placed on Forest Terrain.

Can only be built by Lawspeaker or Chieftain. Once built, the stone has to be Adopted by the lawspeaker to be a part of the village, and then Activated to begin working. The Charter Stone can always be deactivated and reactivated at the discretion of the Lawspeaker, should you need to turn it off.
Any village member can adopt charter stone. Then he can teleport to it, even if he is no longer member of that village. Only one Charter Stone can be adopted by given character at a time.

Clay is a core ingredient for Pottery. The quality of the products made by the clay is based upon the quality of the clay, the kiln used, and the branches provided to fuel the kiln; the quality is also soft- capped by the dexterity of the pottery craftier. The only way to get higher quality clay is to find certain shallow areas that produce higher quality clays. For more information on finding high quality clay, go to this link.

As of the May 30th Clay update, clay has been diversified into multiple 'species' of clay, though like String, they all serve the same purpose and all existing recipes that call for clay will accept any form of clay.

Clay forms are as follows:
*Acre Clay - Dug up on Mudflats
*Ball Clay - Dug up in the shallow water of rivers or lakes
*Bone Clay - Must be crafted
*Cave Clay - Appears in shallow water in caves
*Gray Clay - Appears in any shallow surface water

Also, the clay update made the Nature/Industry personal belief slider influence the success rate of gathering clay. With full nature, success rate is 0.5x the normal, and with full industry, the success rate is 2x the normal- you can gather two clay from each Gray clay and Cave clay node.

How to Acquire
Ball clay is obtained by digging in shallow water, whilst Acre clay is obtained by digging on mudflats. Simply digging on either terrain type will not yield clay unless there is a clay node present. However, on occasion it is possible to receive a single piece of 10 quality clay even when not digging on a node. A node can be identified if you receive multiple units of quality 10 clay, or a unit of clay over 10 quality.

For more tips on finding clay, view the Finding high quality water, clay, and soil page.

Digging from a clay deposit can slowly reduce the quality of the point also. Once the quality drops to 10, further digging will exhaust that part of the deposit.

It takes approximately 3.5 seconds to dig up one unit of clay.

Gray clay and Cave clay are not dug up like conventional Ball and Acre clay, but instead appear as nodes in the same manner Mussels and other do. To gather them, you have to "Pick" them, as you would with plants.

Bone clay is crafted, from five units of Bone ash (produced from bones fired in a kiln), one Cave clay and a single Feldspar. The quality of the produced Bone clay is influenced by your Intelligence and Perception, and appears to be affected by the quality of the Feldspar more than the quality of the other ingredients.

There are quality points for clay in caves as well, so it is possible to find cave clay of quality higher than 10

Amigopen: /* If you have the fishing skill: */

IMPORTANT:
Your character needs to eat in order to survive. It is easy for a new player to starve to death if their stamina is low and if they get wounded. If you want your character to stay alive keep him/her well fed until you learn how quickly stamina and healing drain your hunger bar.

Your attributes are based on the food you eat. You gain strength, charisma, dexterity and your other skills from your choice of food. This means that if you rely on only one or two foods your attributes will get out of balance. If you eat only chanterelles and blueberries you will get high dexterity and high intelligence but all your other stats will lag. You need to eat fep equal to the number of your highest attribute to gain in any attribute. So if your dexterity is 20 and you need to gain strength because it is still only 10, you will have to eat 20 fep to go up to an 11 in strength. If your attributes get badly out of balance it is extremely hard to raise the trailing stats.

You will probably eat a variety of different foods so your fep bar will show several different colours. If your fep bar shows 2 fep of strength, 4 fep of psyche, 3 fep of dex and 1 fep of charisma and you need to eat 10 fep to gain any attribute you have a 20% chance of gaining strength, a 40% chance of gaining psyche and so on, proportionate to what you have eaten.
Every new player can do this:
Look for Apple, Hazelnut, or a Mulberry trees, found in broad-leaf forests. If you find one, right-click it to pick a fruit, which will then appear in your inventory. You must have at least one empty tile in your inventory to do this.

Then right click on the fruit for the option to eat it. If you eat an apple, you will have to drop the apple core to empty space in your inventory (or on the ground). Each tree only produces a certain amount of fruit at a time, and fruit doesn't help increase your attributes, so try not to rely on them for too long. Once you decide to venture outwards, though, make sure to have some surplus food in your inventory.

Keep in mind that forest areas spawn boars and bears, which tend to attack humans on sight and are very dangerous.

You also might be able to scavenge fox kills. Foxes kill rabbits. The most common place to find a dead rabbit is at the edge of the water, where rabbits often become trapped. Foxes also kill chickens. Chickens are found in grasslands, moors and heaths. When a fox attacks them, they scatter; so if you see chickens running around, there is a good chance a fox has been hunting them, and you might be able to find one or more dead. Fox-killed rabbits and chickens are just the same as ones that you kill yourself, except that you don't need to have the hunting skill to make use of them.

If you get the foraging skill:
Raid Ant Hills. You also need the hunting skill for this. Just right-click on the red mound near ant swarms. The option "Raid" will pop up. If you have 10 Unarmed Combat skill, you should be able to withstand their blows til your character is done raiding the ant hill. If you find an ant hill near water, you can press the raid button, and quickly walk into the shallows. Wait til the ants touch the shore and walk back out. The ants will be walking around not noticing you, but you will still be aggroed, and you can go raid the ant hill. All items found when you raid an ants' nest are food, or curiousities. Not all ant hills will have items in them. Sometimes, an ant hill will have several items in it. WARNING: ANTS CAN KILL YOU! They only attack once each while your KO'd but it can deal serious HHP Damage and death.

Look for Chantrelles. These are pale orange speckles found in forests on the ground. Look for Spindly Taproots, although eating them might be a waste. These are dark brown roots that grow in forests on the ground. Right click them to pick them. Look for blueberries. These are plants that grown in forest or on heath or moor. (Higher exploration and perception&nbsp;enable you to find more.)

If you have the hunting skill:
Look for rabbits. You need at least four empty tiles in your inventory in a 2x2 square. Get as close as you can to a rabbit. Wait until it stops moving and stand exactly beside it, but so that the rabbit is still visible to click on. Right click on the rabbit.

If it runs away and you missed it, immediately click the round button with crossed swords beside the picture of the rabbit that pops up in the top right corner. This will stop the aggression between you and the rabbit, and it will soon stop running away, giving you a chance to find it and try again.

You will need to right-click on the rabbit in inventory to wring its neck, and then right-click again to butcher it.

In some terrains, you can try to find chickens, too. They are caught and killed the same way as rabbits, but are easier to catch.

Try to avoid eating any meat raw, as you get sickness FEP, which can cost you hit points. As long as you can find branches to make a fire, you can cook meat from the Craft menu.

If you have a sling:
You can attack and try to kill larger game, such as foxes and deer. They will not attack you until you attack them first, so you can fence them in to make it easier and shoot at them safely from outside the enclosure. Hunting enclosures are usually made out of fires. Just put one branch in, and then move on to make the next fire. It will make a row of little signposts that the animal cannot escape. A good place to enclose an animal is just at the edge of water. They often stop there, and it takes fewer fires to enclose them. Foxes are the easiest to kill, followed by boar, although boar will attack you. You may want to hunt boar from a boat or after enclosing yourself next to a boulder. Deer will not attack you unless you attack them so they are easy to trap. However, deer will heal animals that you are fighting; if you try to kill one of a herd of deer, the other deer will keep healing it, making it harder to kill.

Aurochsen and mouflon are not good quarry to practice on, as they mob you if you attack one of them. You will need to enclose the entire herd, with your target animal enclosed separately from the others, to remain safely out of their reach.

By using a boat, you can safely attack any animal as long as you keep just out of range. This is one of the better ways to hunt aurochsen and mouflon.

If you have the farming skill:
Sometimes you can find Wild Windsown Weed which can be dried to different seeds. Carrot seeds can be planted for Carrot that can be eaten (or planted again) raw. Grapes can be eaten raw too but you will not be able to replant the seeds until you have the winemaking skill.

If you have the fishing skill:
Fishing is not a very good first option. You will need to have fishing line (string), hooks, a fishing pole and bait or lures. Hooks require bones, which usually require hunting or scavenging animals. Spindly Taproot and other plants function as string, so foraging is required. If you have carpentry, you can make a woodfish lure from a wood block (made out of a tree stump or log). If you have Stone Working, you can make a rock lobster lure from a stone you chip off a boulder. Unless you can make a lure or find leeches, you will need to dig in the dirt to get earthworms for bait; this uses a lot of stamina, and thus may make you hungrier than whatever fish you catch.

Fishing is done in waters where fish can be seen. If you don't see fish jumping out of the water every few seconds, there are no fish there.

While fishing is not the easiest option for a single player, it is probably the best starting skill for a group of players located close to a lake or a river. Dividing the necessary tasks (1 hunter, 1 forager, 1 stoneworker, 1 lumberjack-carpenter) allows for the steadiest income of food possible without relying on luck to find prey or edible plants.
PAGENAME are domesticated creatures, kept mainly for Milk and Beef. In order to obtain cattle, you must tame Aurochs. Cattle can be lead around by equipping a Rope, right-clicking on the animal, and selecting 'Leash'. Cows can have twins on rare occasions.

Cow
Cows, female cattle, are the only source of milk other than feeding Aurochs Four-Leaf Clovers. Heifers, cows that have not given birth yet, do not produce milk, thus you will need access to a Bull in order to get milk from a cow. Cows can only 'store' a maximum of 10L at a time. Calves drink the milk, so be sure to leave enough for them.

A female cow will take 4.5 real life days to give birth.

A calf takes 10 real life days to grow up.

A non-pregnant cow eats 4.8 units of food per day (a Food Trough holds 200 units). A pregnant cow eats 10 times as much (48 units per day). A lactating cow eats 4.8 units of food per day, plus 1/10 unit for every 1L of milk produced.

Milk
Cows produce Milk at a rate of Milk Quantity * .01 per 10 minutes. That is .1L/10 minutes at Quantity 10. .4L/10 minutes at Quantity 40, 2.0L/10 minutes at Quantity 200.

Cows can only store a maximum of 10L Milk at a time.

Bull
Bulls, male cattle, are mainly used to pull Wagons, though cows can also do this.

Bulls are also used to impregnate cows, accompanied with a "moo" sound effect. It is a good idea to separate your bulls from your cows, to ensure that you can select the highest quality bull to mate with your cows when you want calves. You should also use your lowest quality bull to pull a wagon, since quality has no effect on wagon-pulling and if you have to flee and leave your wagon behind, then the loss will not be as bad.
Breeding
Breeding for animals is much more difficult than it is to grow crops. The quality of any of the calf's stat is the average of the male and female's stat, +20 -> -5 (someone please check my numbers there), and then soft capped by the breeding quality of the male involved. Since you're typically looking for multiple stats, on top of getting more breeding stat, this can prove to be a slow task.

Build a Chicken Coop in order to breed hens and cocks. Each hen will take around 1 real life day to lay an egg. Be sure to leave a space below the hen or it will not give an egg; chickens are stored in an 8x8 grid. Hens will lay eggs without a cock in the Chicken Coop, but they will not be fertilized. (Fertilized eggs have a white pie fraction overlayed on them indicating when they will hatch into chicks.) Fertilized eggs can still be turned into food. Note that Hens must have a space directly below them to lay eggs and fertilized eggs must be under the hens for it to hatch. The timer will stop after some time, if there is no chicken above the egg. Chicks must have a 2x2 tile space, a total of 4 tiles, to mature into chickens.

Essentially, chicken quality is directly based on seed quality. Higher quality fodder from higher quality seeds will allow your chicks to grow into higher quality hens and cocks; Higher quality cocks and hens will produce higher quality eggs, which will hatch into higher quality chicks than the previous generation, and thus the cycle repeats. Feeding them lower quality seed may lower their quality (needs verification.)

When a new chick hatches, it's quality is based on the average of it's parents' quality +/-5. When chick grows into cock/hen, it's quality seems to be hardcapped by fodder quality (needs verification).

Chickens require feeding. To do this, pick up fodder material (as listed below) up with a left-click and right-click on the coop. This will fill the fodder bar a bit. You will not be able to recover any seed/plants used in this manner. Fodder fills up a meter inside the coop; the amount removed is proportionate to the amount of chickens contained therein.

Plants that could be used as fodder:

*Any Seeds
*Beetroot
*Beetroot Leaves
*<b> Warning: </b>Candleberry too, be careful when shift-right clicking.

Amigopen: /* Settler */ grammar

All player-made characters are called Hearthlings. All Hearthlings fall into one of four general categories: Newbie, Wanderer, Settler, and Villager
Newbie
Not to be confused with noobs, newbies are Hearthlings fresh from the spawn pool. Since they lack advanced skills, they used to spawn Wicker Baskets en masse back when they yielded LP, but now they mostly just make spruce beds, tanning tubs, and drying racks. and exist almost entirely on Apples and Hazel Nuts.

Wanderer
Most Newbies quickly become Wanderers, trekking across forests and fields in search of new sources of food and LP. However, not all Wanderers are unskilled. These Hearthlings can be divided into three subgroups:
*Crook: Using Trespassing, this type of player likes to slip on to your claim and rob you clean. Lesser crooks who lack this skill target unclaimed settlements and Newbie camps. You can defend your property against these players by claiming your settlement (Yeomanry), constructing Palisades around your area, and by keeping unprotected valuables in your inventory when you log out.
*Explorer: Newbie often become this kind of Wanderer once they've outgrown their starting area. Explorers cover massive tracts of land in search for the perfect place to settle.
*Raider: Sometimes also (incorrectly) called Russians, Raiders are possibly the most feared creatures in all the Hearthlands. Raiders are a step up from crooks: you're lucky if they only rob you. An unknown number of Hearthlings have been slain at the hands of these nomadic warriors. In all honesty, if you've been targeted by a party of Raiders, you're out of luck. One suggestion would be this: if you see a nearby settlement with a Battering Ram, don't go near it!

Settler
Whether or not the majority of Hearthlings are Settlers is arguable, but there are by far more personal settlements then there are Villages. Smart Settlers have set up shops in resource-rich locations or little pre-village communities. Hearthlings who are Settlers may work alone, but it is more common to see two or three people working together. Well-established Settlers are fond of trading , especially with Explorers and nearby Settlers.

Villager
Villagers are similar to Settlers in that they have found a place to call Home. The chief difference is exactly that: Villagers have established some form of government lead by their village's Chieftain. Any Hearthling with the skills and the resources to establish a village have accumulated a massive amount of LP and are most certainly a force to be reckoned with. A huge advantage to living with several other Hearthlings is that you all can share supplies; instead of chopping down trees for five looms, a village can build one community loom and use the trees for other structures. Being a villager is the best (if not only) way to protect your stuff from Raiders.

This page simply remarks on peoples' playing methods and has absolutely no impact on the game itself

Mouflon can be tamed to become a Sheep. See this page for more info about taming wild animals. They sometimes will attack you and kill you while you are unconscious.

The quality of all Mouflon materials (Raw Hide, Meat, Intestines, Bones/Teeth) is equal to 10. Raw Hide, Intestines, and Meat are softcapped by Survival and your carving tool. Bones are only softcapped by Survival.

Mouflon spawn in a herd. All mouflons within sight will engage you simultaneously if you attack one of them.

Mouflon can be fed Four-Leaf Clover by right-clicking a mouflon with it.

I agree LP/weight is useful for when you're gonna be afk. I also think more columns would be useful: LP/slot and LP/hr/slot. By slot I mean the amount of space a curio takes up. If you can think of a better word, go for it. Once people are at a certain amount of int they stop caring about attention and start caring about how much space they've got left in their mental inventory - Phaen 02:37, 6 April 2011 (CDT)
:Added in LP/Hr/Slot category, I didn't think LP/Slot seemed so useful, but if it is it's simple to add and I'll do so. I left in Mental Weight even though it's for the most part only for when you're new, an expert's table can be added later that doesn't have this. I think Mental Weight as well as Size should be moved to the right of LP/Hour/Size as they are not used as often. DatOneGuy 18:26, 25 April 2011 (CDT)

I've added descending LP / Hour / Weight sorting. I'm pretty new at the game but think that's the most important parameter for most players. There's a way to add sort buttons for all columns, but for templates that's said to require some javascript from here http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Collapsible_elements and I have no idea how that works.

Ant hills are found on forest terrain, and can be raided by right clicking the mound and selecting Raid. Ant hills are a common source for low FEP edible insects; Ant Soldiers and Ant Larvae are commonly found, Aphids and Ant Pupae are uncommonly found, while the Ant Empress and Ant Queen are rarely found. Be aware, it is common for three wandering swarms of Ants to be guarding the Ant Hill and all of them will attack if you raid the hill without fighting them first. For this reason, if you wish to combat the ants, it's best to fight them one-on-one first before beginning your raid on the anthill.

If you are fairly new, there are a number of good strategies to employ if you need ants to eat or study from an Ant Hill:

1) If you have some combat skills and have raised your combat abilities, simply kill the ants guarding the Ant Hill one by one before raiding it. This is a fairly easy fight, but don't be afraid to back off if things go wrong. You may wish to review combat mechanics here on the wiki before fighting.

2) If you have a rowboat, sail around until you see an Ant Hill right on the water's edge and raid it from the safety of your boat. You will have to initiate the raid, sail back a few tiles while the ants try to attack and then sail closer again to complete the raid; otherwise the game will allow them to attack you despite being in a boat.

3) Finally, you could start raiding, then quickly run far away before the guard swarms can hit you, and then let them start to catch up to you again. Once you have drawn the ants far enough away from the Ant Hill, run back and continue raiding it. Ants are slow, and as long as you ran far enough away, you should be done raiding and gone by the time they get back. If you attempt this method, note that it takes approximately 10 seconds to fully raid an Ant Hill, so give yourself enough distance between the guard swarms and the Ant Hill when running back to finish the raid.

4) A variation of number 3. Have a friend raid the ant hill and run away, as soon as he does raid the anthill yourself. After which both of you can escape on foot or by boat.

5) One of the most reliable ways requires a nearby source of water, but does not require a boat. Simply begin raiding and run away, and head to the shallow water. If you lead the ants into the shallow water, they will become confused and stop attacking you. You are then free to raid the anthill at your leisure.

Ways that don't work include:

Trying to catch the ants on a cliff or other terrain: Ant swarms can pass through all terrain, including tress, rocks, cliffs and houses.

Ignoring the ants and just taking the damage: It's just not a smart idea at all.

Note: Quality of edible ants recovered in a raid is directly related to soil quality and is softcapped by Survival.

Amigopen: /* Villager */ grammar (slightly)

Smart Settlers have set up shop in a resource-rich location or in a little pre-village community.

----
This page simply remarks on peoples' playing methods and has absolutely no impact on the game itself

Rabbit meat is the easiest meat for a new character to obtain in Forest Terrain, and, like Bones and skins from rabbits, always starts at quality 10.

If you do not have hunting you can sometimes find dead rabbits that a fox has killed. You find them beside the water usally where the rabbit got trapped. They are safe to eat if you cook them and you can get meat, a bone and a skin.

How to Acquire
You must have Hunting in order to catch rabbits.
*Obtain a Rabbit Corpse. In order to do this you will first have to find a rabbit in the wilderness. Next, stand very close to it and right click directly onto the rabbit (if you are not close to it the rabbit will begin to run away making it difficult to catch, but not impossible. Track it down and try again. ) The rabbit will take up a 2x2 spot in your inventory.
*Right click to Wring Neck. This changes the rabbit into a dead rabbit which is 1x2.
*Then right-click and select Butcher. You will aquire 1 Rabbit Meat (raw), 1 Fresh Rabbit Fur and 1 Bone Material.<br />
