In-Game Text
"Where there is a will, there is a way."

Cartography allows your character to draw a local map of the area you are in. To draw a map, use "Map area" under the "Adventure menu". You need to have a quill, ink and parchment in your inventory to draw a map. Local maps can be copied unto regional maps, by holding the local map, and right clicking on an empty parchment, or an already existing map.

Quoting Jorb
"There are two types of maps at present: Local maps, and regional maps.

One local map covers, if all the constituent grids (5 by 5) are filled in, an area the size of 4 by 4 minimaps (see the graphic in the bottom). Please note that drawn maps do not automatically update themselves. They are snapshots of the area at the time the map was drawn. If you use the cartography action again, in an area you already have a map of, the relevant map will be updated.

A map can be copied or updated from another map. Copying creates a copy of the map parchment in question, quite simply. Copy by holding the map and right clicking on a blank parchment. Update one map, using information on another map of the same area, by right clicking on the map that is to be updated, while holding the newer map.

Finally, local maps can be drawn into regional maps. Regional maps display, at greater zoom distance, 5 by 5 local maps, or 20 by 20 minimaps (an area equivalent to one quadrant of a supergrid). These maps can then be updated using local maps. Please note that the local map must be completely filled in before it can be drawn unto a regional map, or used to update it."

Notes
* Map drawing, copying and updating uses 0.1L ink.
* Quills have a chance to be destroyed after each use.
* Map structure:
**World Size 7SGx7SG (WxH) (this may grow over time)
**supergrid = 5000x5000
**regional maps = 2500x2500
**local maps = 500x500
**minimaps = 125x125
**constituent grids (of local map) = 100x100

The following figure illustrates this; However, it shows local maps as 16 mini-maps instead of 25 constituent grids.
So there is a bug, which can get you stuck in a palisade. Do not ever build you palisade like this, or you'll get stuck in the Palisade everytime you want to leave the mine. I have no idea how these Wikis work, so maybe someone want to bring this screenshot on the main page. --Newshi (6 May 2011)<br>
:Things have changed. When placing a (Round-pole)fence-post at the mine-hole(top) exit position the character is placed at a other predetermined location when exiting the mine-hole.
:General Mine-Hole exit points.
:
:Note1: Dark blue tiles = blocked with fence pole in tile center.
:Note2: Think there is some need for a confirmation whether the above "Stuck_in_palisade" case (first image) is still possible or not. (just to be sure its not related to something else. Although doubtful at this point)
:Note3 (Res-data): Exit point are also included in the minehole.res file (neg_0.data "#Coord ep[?][0..8]", assumed to be read only for clients)(not included in "Exit_Points" image). These points are general offset locations, as in: the final character position might be slightly different due to some possible final character position adjustments.
We have two mine holes pretty close to each-other. The one they say is inaccessible, the other one gives a red warning that the entrance is obscured or something similar. Why could that be?

The stats are inconsistant. It said base 5 cha and 1 ind, but the information of a Q16 hat point towards base 15 cha. I'm leaving this note as a future record for why I changed the base stats.
-Apocalypse Please

Quality
I crafted a cylinder hat with Q27 silk and Q53 leather
I received a Q33 hat
so i think the formula is (3*SilkQ + leatherQ) / 4

(3*27 + 53) / 4 = 33,5

should not have been softcapped with my stats:
dex 93
sew 50
psy 19

Stats
I made a table on the front page using the information given, of q16 giving +18 CHA and q10 having +15. sqrt(1.6) * 15 floored is 18, so I assumed that was the formula to follow, as with most items. I don't know if the Industry bonus also scales with quality. Info on that would be useful. A q40 Cylinder Hat would then give +2 Industry and q90 +3. ==How to Acquire==
Dragonflies are found only in Swamps.

Comments
Dragonflies move at running speed and live only in Swamps, making them quite difficult to catch. Since they move faster than you, and your stamina will likely not last at walking speed in a swamp, the best way to catch them is to stay at crawling speed and make the most of your patience. Dragonflies move randomly, changing directions at regular intervals. Right click on the dragonfly (An impressive feat in and of itself!) and your character will pursue the dragonfly indefinitely: Simply wait until you and the dragonfly happen to be headed directly towards each other, and accelerate to walking speed to ensure the catch. Do note that you ARE in a swamp, so you may want to take care not to be drained dry by leeches.

Another method to catching Dragonflies is to give them some space (zoom out) wait until one is heading your way, line up properly in front of it, zoom in very close and click on it so that it comes to you.
