Mata: /* Wounds */

[[Category:guide]]
__TOC__

There are three different types of hitpoints: soft (SHP), hard (HHP), and maximum (MHP).

=== SHP ===
SHP reflects current hitpoints. As long as a character's [[Energy]] is above 8000%, this value will slowly regenerate, up to the character's current HHP value. SHP can be lost from (including, but not limited to:)
*Combat
*Equipped [[leech]]es
*Commiting [[Criminal Acts]] causes 1shp damage for each action that generates a scent.

Being reduced to zero SHP results in being knocked unconscious for roughly a minute. Travel to [[Hearth Fire]] is possible for a short while before waking up, allowing you to avoid getting knocked out again by animal lingering nearby or escape PvP encounters as long as you're not red-handed, outlaw, or in a Dungeon.

=== HHP ===
HHP is current maximum hitpoints. This number is reduced by [[Wounds]] you receive during combat, starvation or drowning. Leaving your character to starve will make you lose HHP over time. HHP recovers when you heal a wound. HHP has a maximum of the character's MHP value. A character takes slight HHP damage from most unblocked attacks. If a character's HHP drops to zero, that character is permanently dead.

=== MHP ===
MHP is the maximum achievable hard hitpoints. This value is 100 on a new character and can be raised by increasing a character's [[Constitution]] attribute, while lowering it will decrease MHP.

The formula for calculating MHP is: <math>MHP=100*\sqrt{\frac{CON}{10}}</math>.
:for example, if CON is 10 (baseline), your MHP is <math>100*\sqrt{\frac{10}{10}}</math>. , which is 100.
:if con is 100: <math>MHP=100*\sqrt{\frac{100}{10}}</math>. = 316

== Wounds ==

Wounds are the HHP damage since World 8 of Haven. Different sources of damage have a chance to cause a wound, which might heal over time, or can be healed by certain actions. Each wound will have a value which amounts to the reduction it applies to your HHP, or even to certain [[Attributes]]. These values and the wounds are visible on the '''Health & Wounds''' button on your [[Glossary|Character Sheet]]. Each wound heals independently of others, so several small occurrences of the same wound will heal faster than one large one.

Any wounds that state that it will "heal over time" require the character to have a green energy bar (8000% or higher) to heal and will continue to heal whether on or offline. Note that some wounds that heal over time can also be healed with other methods, such as [[Leeches]]. This may speed up overall healing time by spreading out the damage more.

Some wounds, such as [[Adder]] bites, initially get worse over time, and can kill your hearthling. Sleeping appears to accelerate the progress of these wounds, so it may be wise to seek treatment before sleep. Others require monitoring, like Infected Sore, which can either grow or shrink over time.

The following are the list of wounds a character can receive from combat or other actions in the game. Several will heal on their own, most will need some sort of healing item to remove the wound. Note that almost all healing items have some sort of penalty associated with it. It could be a quick loss of SHP ([[Leeches]]), occupying a gear slot ([[Gauze]]), or reduce attributes or skills ([[Stinging Poultice]]).

HHP is recovered once the conditions are fulfilled. Recovering SHP needs energy at healing levels (8000% or higher).

Wounds will still, even when treated, count and be relevant for combinations to new and more severe wounds when you receive new wounds from taking damage. They will also retain negative effects during treatment.
Each treatment, when applied, now applies a treatment factor to the wound, dependent on the quality of the treatment applied, which reduces the reactivity of the wound -- i.e. the likelihood of it wanting to combine with incoming new wounds to create more severe wounds -- by the treatment factor percentage.

'''Note''' [[Ancient Root]] and right [[Alchemy|Elixir]] can instantly heal any wound for some amount depend on it's quality, include wounds that can be healed only over time or even permanent.
==Additional Information==
A few wounds need to be given special consideration

*Starvation
**There seems to be chance to gain starvation damage every time character expends energy when its below 2000%
**Starvation seems to only heal when some combination of following factors is met, proper testing required
***SHP is full
***Stamina is full
***Energy is over 8000% or more

*Concussions
**These lower stats and can take a long time to heal on their own
**[[Cloth]] is the main limiting factor for its treatment, as it can be difficult for a new player to make.
**Getting knocked out too many times can brick your character for a few days

*Deep Cuts
**Given primarily by bats and other animals
**No stat loss, but can stack up and reduce HHP to dangerous levels

*Wretched Gore
**Often recieved during PvP fights, or damage from strong animals.
**Heals 1 HHP a day with a q10 stitched patch
**The patch quality can make a difference measured in months
**Using a [[Stitch Patch]] to heal this wound causes the Stitched Up debuff, which reduces a character's effectiveness at combat and foraging.
**Ancient Roots may provide quicker treatment. See [[Localized Resources]]

*Swollen Bumps
**Given primarily during cave-ins
**Cave-Ins at lower layers in the world will cause much more severe wounds
**Paired with the cave-in knockout this can result in very hefty wounds and stat penalties

==Required_By Fishing skill list==
The Required_By listing for the fishing skill is pretty massive. One reason for it size is that it included Dried-Filet and fish related Spitroasts.<br>
I wonder, considering Fish Filet's themself are not included in the list, if Dried-Filet's and fish related Spitroasts actually required the fishing skill.<br>
* If a character, specifically without the fishing skill, can turn a:
===Some pieces for potential page expansion===

Baits that are easy to acquire in early game

;Bloated Leech: easy to acquire, swamps are quite common. However gathering them is a strain to your Hitpoints that start rather limited. They drain your SHP every time they bite and also have chance to deal HHP damage in the form of leech burns. You won't regenerate SHP unless you have more than 8000 Energy, which can be hard to acquire, especially if one seeks to avoid sub-optimal foods in order to not fill the hunger (more accurately described as appetite) bar too fast.

;Entrails: can be easy to acquire if you find a flock of chickens. They let you catch them without running away. Killing and butchering chickens also yields feathers and bone that are quite useful.

;Earthworm: relatively hard to acquire as you need to dig soil, which is an Energy intensive activity. However if you need to Terraform something anyway, you can get these as useful byproduct. Compost Bin also spawns Earthworms, but requires Bone Glue to build and produces Mulch most of the time.

Early game fishing provides some much needed Learning Points as well, in the form of Discoveries as you catch and butcher different types of fish for the first time.

Catching and eating Plaice is often recommended to increase Perception, a hard-to-raise stat in the early game. Testing the waters around you can be worth your time, especially with the aforementioned LP bonuses, but shouldn't be your immediate primary goal.

== Water terrains ==

Wile exploring some water terrain related stuff, I kinda got water-terrain confused.<br>
Looking at the Fish page I count 6 water terrains indicators.
* Shallow & Deep River.
* Shallow & Deep Lake.
* Shallow & Deep Ocean. (''map shows actual 3 Ocean levels'')
Is there any data/info that shows/indicated that Rivers and Lakes are now actual two distinct water terrains ? (other than there looks/size)<br>
At this moment I think Rivers and Lakes are still the same terrain type (''as in Haven-Legacy''). ...<br>
I also see that there is currently no significant data-separation when it comes to Land- & Ocean-water terrain.<br>
For example, a lot of the fish (''if not all, not checked'') use "Water Terrain" as "Produced By" property. Although technically correct, it bypasses Land vs Ocean specification. (''Alternative property-link-title generally is specifying River, Lake or Ocean, but that is only active on the related pages itself'').<br>
* Potential alternative terrain classification to combine River and Lake: Fresh water (''which would make Ocean Salt-water, when needed'').<br>
Later: Look into this a bit more, and see what might work.<br>

:The one thing that make difference between river and lake waters is [[River Pearl Mussel]] - they now spawn only in river shallows. In fishing or anything else i see no difference.
:Fresh and Salt waters - sounds good - some creature like walrus and seals(and a lot of w11 items) also spawn only in ocean tiles or ocean beaches now.

::Aha. If there is one case, it at least means that inside the game(internally) there is some possible optional separation between river and lake terrain.
::Even if the [[River Pearl Mussel]] is the only (current) exception to the rule. It would still need to be taking in account ... eventually, making this potentially a bit more tricky.
== Moving Fish data/tables ==

Took a quick look into moving the fish tables to a separated page in the tables section(path). But I run into to much potential issues/work to do so in one go.<br>
Some things that cropped up. (''ie: stuff that needs some pondering'')<br>
# The tables probably need an additional column to indicate verified W11 cases. (''as most of the date is classified as old (w10, or by date)'')
# Water type classification might need some work. To eliminate potential ambitiousness in that area.
# FEP data seems out of place in these tables. On top of that its manual-duplicate data. (''to be dealt with after potential/initial move'')
#* FEP tables being already kinda wide to add more fields. Like a fish-bool order field (''although a more general re-order-field might still fit in''). Alternative option would be a separate fish FEP table/page.
#** general re-order field: Only useful if all items can be separated in none overlapping groups. (''so a short or single character can be used in a general re-order field'')
* ... (other stuff that might need some adjusting/rethinking)
== Fish as fishing trash? ==

Would the data possibly get skewed if someone were to throw fish back in the water as fishing trash?
technically, you could get fish in certain areas where you wouldn't naturally as they were in the global pool from being dropped in it.
Is there any merit to this concern?

The fishing skill allows you to craft and use [[Bushcraft Fishingpole]]s and [[Primitive Casting-Rod]]s and to fish for different [[:Category:Fish|types of fish]]. The fishing skill benefits from completion of the [[Credos]] - Fisherman.

=In-Game Text=
''"The fathoms give nothing,''<br>
''Yield not a single thing,''<br>
''But to the fishermens' snares."''

You have mastered some basic fishing techniques, and can craft rods, poles, hooks and lures.

There are two types of fishing: Rod and pole. Pole fishing uses various forms of live or fleshy bait -- such as earthworms, entrails, or ants -- whereas Rod fishing uses lures. Fishing poles catch fish immediately whenever they bite, but the more demanding Rod fishing rather requires you to actually land the Fish by figuring out the many riddles of the sport. The truly rare fish of the world are caught with rods.

=How to Fish=
To fish you need four categories of items combined together with the fishing skill. These items are:
# A Fishing Pole
# Fishing Line
# Fish Hook
# Lures or Bait
===Fishing Pole===
Craft Either a [[Bushcraft Fishingpole]] or a [[Primitive Casting-Rod]].

*[[Primitive Casting-Rod]] must be used with Lures. Lures are not consumed as fish are caught. This is called Lure-Fishing

*[[Bushcraft Fishingpole]] uses bait. Fish are caught automatically and the Bait is Consumed and replaced per fish. This is called Bait-Fishing

===Fishing Line===
Certain types of string may be used as Fishing Line. These string types include:
*[[Spindly Taproot]]s
*[[Finer Plant Fibre]]s
*[[Cattail Fibres]]
*[[Straw Twine]]
*[[Hide Strap]]
**Note that other string types such as Stinging Nettle, Yarn, and Silk thread do not work.

Fishing line occasionally breaks, so be sure to have backups. Higher quality fishing line tends to break less often.

===Fish Hook===
A fish hook is added to the fishing pole by left clicking on the hook and then right clicking on the fishing pole. Fish hook types include:
*[[Bone Hook]]
*[[Chitin Hook]]
*[[Gold Hook]]
*[[Metal Hook]]

Fish hook are also occasionally lost. Using your prized gold nugget passed down by your ancestors might not be wise. Higher quality fish hooks tend to be lost less often.

===Bait===
Bait is expendable meaning you can catch at maximum one fish per bait.

Some types of bait include: {{#ask: [[Category:bait]]}}

===Lure===
Lures are durable, but they can be lost. {{SharedText|unlock_lures}}

Some types of lure include: {{#ask: [[Category:Fishing_Lure]]}}

==Fishing Trash==
When something is dropped in a body of water, it is added to a global pool of items that can be fished up anywhere in the world or found buried on the beach. Some people use this feature for charity by throwing their old equipment in the river. You can also drop a written parchment to send a message to a random fisherman as if it were a message in a bottle.

=Fishing=

'''Quoting Jorb:'''

Fish are now a limited and localized resource, working in the same way as any other localized resource. You should notice fish jumping in the water if the area has fish. What you catch when fishing depends on the following factors: Time of day, [[Water Terrain|location]], [[Fishing Lure|lure]], [[Fish Hook|hook]], [[Fishing Pole|pole]] and [[Fishing Line|line]] type as well as the quality level of each piece of fishing equipment.

===Bait Fishing===
Bait-Fishing is a semi-automated and a Semi-random activity using a Bushcraft Fishing Pole. Bait, line, and hook combo seem to have no strong correlation between fish types caught. Equip your pole, gather an inventory of bait, and begin fishing. You will automatically catch, recast, and re-bait your hook while bait fishing. The type of fish caught are random, based on the node you are fishing from. If you are simply looking to catch fish with no real desire for a certain type of fish, this is your easiest option.

===Lure Fishing===
Lure-Fishing using a Primitive Casting Rod is a more precise and manual activity. Lure, line, and hook type all play role in what species you will be able to catch. Every fish have certain line, hook, and lure combos that work best for it. If you are having difficulties catching a fish or keeping your lure, be sure to try new combinations. Equip your pole, gather some tackle, and begin fishing. You will be presented a list of fish to "aim" for, with a given % of how likely they are to bite. This list is a function of your [[Survival]] and [[Will]], so the higher both stats are, the larger your list will be. Max number of fishes in a list is limited by 10 and apparently is equal to <math>\lceil \sqrt{Will * Surv}/20 \rceil</math>. You can choose what kind of fish you want to catch. If you do not pick any, the game will automatically choose the fish with the highest % of biting.

===Fishing Pole===

===Fishing Line===

===Fish Hook===

===Bait===
Bait is expendable meaning you can catch at maximum one fish per bait.

Some types of bait include: {{#ask: [[Category:bait]]}}

===Lure===
Lures are durable, but they can be lost. {{SharedText|unlock_lures}}

Some types of lure include: {{#ask: [[Category:Fishing_Lure]]}}

==Fishing Trash==

===Bait Fishing===

===Lure Fishing===

===Fishing Pole===

===Fishing Line===

===Fish Hook===

===Bait===
==Fishing Trash==

===Bait Fishing===

===Lure Fishing===

== Water terrains ==

Wile exploring some water terrain related stuff, I kinda got water-terrain confused.<br>
Looking at the Fish page I count 6 water terrains indicators.
* Shallow & Deep River.
* Shallow & Deep Lake.

:--[[User:Kitsuneg|Kitsuneg]] ([[User talk:Kitsuneg|talk]]) 08:47, 25 August 2019 (EDT)

::Aha. If there is one case, it at least means that inside the game(internally) there is some possible optional separation between river and lake terrain.
::Even if the [[River Pearl Mussel]] is the only (current) exception to the rule. It would still need to be taking in account ... eventually, making this potentially a bit more tricky.
== Moving Fish data/tables ==

The Required_By listing for the fishing skill is pretty massive. One reason for it size is that it included Dried-Filet and fish related Spitroasts.<br>

== Water terrains ==

Wile exploring some water terrain related stuff, I kinda got water-terrain confused.<br>
Looking at the Fish page I count 6 water terrains indicators.
* Shallow & Deep River.
* Shallow & Deep Lake.

== Moving Fish data/tables ==
