The term "tick" means 1 unit of time that it takes to burn 1 [[branch]] in a [[Kiln]] or an [[Oven]]. A tick is about 5 to 6 minutes of real-life time, which makes it approximately 15 minutes of in-game time.

In other words, if a recipe for [[apple pie]] calls for three ticks of cooking time, then the apple pie dough needs to remain in the oven for the time for three full branches to burn totally out from start to finish. Thus, the dough should always go in before the oven or kiln is lit. If you are not able to control this precisely -- for example if someone has loaded your oven/kiln to 100% with fuel -- then you may need to watch your recipes directly until they are ready.

Bread, once baked, can be eaten by right clicking on them and selecting the 'eat' option. Each provides 60 units (6%) to your hunger bar.

==How to Acquire==
Gather [[wheat flour]] and [[water]] to make the dough. Place the dough into an oven. Fuel the oven with three [[branch]]es and light it. The bread will be finished in approximately 3 ticks, or between 15-17 minutes.

==Notes==
*Bread should not be baked with anything other than [[apple pie]]s or [[Blueberry Pie|blueberry pies]] due or to different foods having different cooking times.
*It has been suggested that to avoid a bug which turns your bread into ash, make sure to place fuel into the oven before the bread dough. It is certainly important to avoid adding more than the three branches needed to the oven (if you aren't sure how many branches are in the oven, it is probably best to burn off the existing fuel before starting to bake).
