Bone Material is required by several things, such as [[Bone Arrow]]s, [[Bone Hook]]s and [[Bone Saw]]s.

==How to Acquire==
All animals contain Bone Material. Killing and butchering an animal will result in a quantity of bone material dependent on the type of animal see [[Creatures]] for more information.

Do note that animal specific materials such as [[Moose Antlers]], [[Deer Antlers]], [[Boar Tusk]]s, [[Bear Tooth|Bear Teeth]], [[Crab Shell]]s, [[Bog Turtle Shell]]s and [[Wishbone]]s also count as Bone Material, so be careful when crafting with these items in your inventory
With a [[Roasting Spit]] over a [[Fireplace]], Right click the Animal corpse onto the spit. Roasting meat this way increases the amount of meat by 25%, but also denies the collection of Entrails, Intestines, Bones, and Hide.

Immediately After cooking your Animal, you will get '''Sizzling {{PAGENAME}}'''. The '''Sizzling''' Buff grants 25% extra FEP for 30 minutes, after which it will turn back into {{PAGENAME}}.

You get 24 pieces of meat and 3 [[Bone Ash]]

==Quality==
The quality of Spitroast Meat is the average of the animal quality and the quality of the [[Roasting Spit]], softcapped by the [[Survival]] of the character who places the animal on the spit.
''Quoting Jorb''

Opium can be smoked to good effect:
*Whenever you smoke opium, you receive a buff "Chasing the Dragon". For each puff of the pipe, the buff accumulates a certain amount of wound points. You can see on the buff how many points of damage it has accumulated.
*As the buff ticks down, there is a chance to convert wound points accumulated in the buff into healing of certain wound types, namely: Infected sore, Wretched Gore, Concussion, Blunt Trauma, and Punch Sore.
*When the buff is empty -- i.e. has ticked down entirely -- the remaining accumulated wound points -- i.e. those not used for healing -- are gradually applied as a new wound "Dragon Bite", which itself heals over time.
*The buff can only hold a certain amount of wound points, and as you begin approaching that amount, some damage is applied directly as a "Dragon Bite".
Also made it so that the poppy seed payout is lower than base if poppies are harvested as flowers, and higher than base if they are harvested as pods.
*There is another little mechanic involved, but you'll get to discover that one for yourselves.
*Please be advised that smoking opium can kill your character. Proceed carefully to find a suitable dosage!

==How to Acquire==
If you harvest a [[poppy]] plant in this secret stage, you receive a [[Poppy Pod]] instead of a [[Poppy Flower]]. Poppy pods can be eaten as are, but can also be dried on an [[Herbalist Table]] to [[Dried Poppy Pod]]s. Dried poppy pods can be ground to [[Poppy Grist]], which can be boiled in a [[cauldron]] and thus reduced to opium.
It takes 1:40 hours in real time to fully reduce poppy grist to opium.

==Notes==
*While you are actively smoking Opium, sometimes [[Opium Dragon]]s will spawn; when you reach 100% of the Chasing The Dragon buff, they can spawn as many as three at a time. It is easiest to catch them while riding a horse in a large, flat area like a field. Dragons can go through walls so it is not recommended to smoke inside a house if you want to catch them.
*Smoking opium will make the game world look purple and wobbly.

The fishing skill allows you to craft and use [[Bushcraft Fishingpole]]s and [[Primitive Casting-Rod]]s and to fish for different [[:Category:Fish|types of fish]]. The fishing skill benefits from completion of the [[Credos]] - Fisherman.

=In-Game Text=
''"The fathoms give nothing,''<br>
''Yield not a single thing,''<br>
''But to the fishermens' snares."''

You have mastered some basic fishing techniques, and can craft rods, poles, hooks and lures.

There are two types of fishing: Rod and pole. Pole fishing uses various forms of live or fleshy bait -- such as earthworms, entrails, or ants -- whereas Rod fishing uses lures. Fishing poles catch fish immediately whenever they bite, but the more demanding Rod fishing rather requires you to actually land the Fish by figuring out the many riddles of the sport. The truly rare fish of the world are caught with rods.

=How to Fish=
To fish you need 4 items combined together with the fishing skill:
# A Fishing Pole
# Fishing Line
# Fish Hook
# Lures or Bait
===Fishing Pole===

Craft Either a [[Bushcraft Fishingpole]] or a [[Primitive Casting-Rod]].

*[[Primitive Casting-Rod]] can be used with lures, which are not consumed as fish are caught.

*[[Bushcraft Fishingpole]] uses bait, and fish are caught automatically and bait consumed.

''More info to be Added on Fishing pole specs''

===Fishing Line===
All [[String]], except [[Hide Strap]]s and [[Stinging Nettle]], count as Fishing Line. [[Spindly Taproot]]s, [[Yarn]], [[Finer Plant Fibres]], and [[Silk Thread]] all work.

Be aware that fishing line can break, so if high quality string is difficult for you to find it might be safer to opt for more abundant, lower quality string. If you are very serious about fishing you will want to raise your own [[Finer Plant Fibre|plant fibre]] to get the best quality fishing line you can.
===Fish Hook===
A fish hook is added to the fishing pole by left clicking on the hook and then right clicking on the fishing pole. Currently, there are four types of fish hooks.

*[[Bone Hook]]
*[[Chitin Hook]]
*[[Gold Hook]]
*[[Metal Hook]]

Be aware that, much like the fishing line, you can lose your fishing hook. Using your prized gold nugget passed down by your ancestors might not be wise.

===Bait===
Bait is expendable meaning you can catch at maximum one fish per bait.

Some types of bait include: {{#ask: [[Category:bait]]}} {{#ask: [[Category:ants]]}}

===Lure===
Lures are durable, but they can be lost.

==Fishing Trash==
When something is dropped in a body of water, it is added to a global pool of items that can be fished up anywhere in the world or found buried on the beach. Some people use this feature for charity by throwing their old equipment in the river. You can also drop a written parchment to send a message to a random fisherman as if it were a message in a bottle.

=Fish=

'''Quoting Jorb:'''

Fish are now a limited and localized resource, working in the same way as any other localized resource. You should notice fish jumping in the water if the area has fish. What you catch when fishing depends on the following factors: Time of day, [[Water Terrain|location]], [[Fishing Lure|lure]], [[Fish Hook|hook]], [[Fishing Pole|pole]] and [[Fishing Line|line]] type as well as the quality level of each piece of fishing equipment.
*You will need at least 121 strength to damage it with a battering ram solo. Two characters with around 36 strength each is enough to do damage with a battering ram. Other tools, such as a pickaxe, do not help while using a battering ram, according to loftar.

==How to Acquire==

Begin by constructing a cornerpost. Right click on the cornerpost to extend the wall. Use "Prepare for gate" to place another cornerpost 2 tiles away in any direction, when the second post is finished, a gate can be built between them. Be sure to build your gate falling '''outward''', as if it's going over a moat around your wall, this is important for [[Uninstalled Lock|locking]].

A cornerpost has the option of being sealed after being built. This prevents any additional extensions from being built off that post. '''Warning: sealing a cornerpost is permanent. Other Players can still seal the Cornerpost while trespassing with criminal acts turned on'''. Otherwise it is highly recommended to complete a palisade as quickly as possible and then seal the cornerposts. Many players looking to cause problems will seal cornerposts left open (usually the first cornerpost being built and left too long) or extend a wall closing in a gate in the case of a completed wall.

A freshly built palisade's soak will increase slowly from zero to full over the course of three days. This means that it can be broken with a starting character with only 10 Strength. After 24 hours they require higher strength or a [[ram]] to break.

==Cascade damage==

When a palisade segment is destroyed, it has a chance to take adjoining segments down with it. This chance is rolled again for the adjoining segment, which can break another adjoining segment. Ultimately this results in a damage cascade, whereby destroying one segment usually results in a large number of destroyed segments, sometimes even up to 20.

When a cascade destroys a cornerpost that branches off into different directions, multiple cascades will occur, continuing in each direction.

Cascade damage can only happen between segments with the same soak.

==Notes==
*Palisade sections allow for a terrain height difference of +/-3.

*You can't build walls within 6 tiles of water. You also cannot build walls on a claim you have no rights to (not even with Criminal Acts).

*If a copy of your Master Key gets stolen, but you have a spare, you can install a new lock with the old Master Key in your inventory.

*You can right click your Master Key onto a new lock in your inventory to make them match. This is useful if you have multiple walls, or if you're using an 'airlock' as outlined below.

*A gate can be made more secure by building an airlock system. Going through one gate and closing it before opening the other makes sure someone can't rush in while you're going outside.
:[[File:Palisade airlock.jpg]]

*When trying to extend a wall onto forest terrain, you can get an error message saying you can't build there. You can remedy this by plowing, then either paving or stomping to dirt.

*Extreme caution should be used when building palisades near cliffs as areas that appear usable, and may even allow the laying of stone or brick, may NOT allow the placement of a palisade.

*You can continue building from a palisade segment that is connected to a sealed cornerpost and this means that you can seal a cornerpost immediately after building the segments in the directions you want to build to. You can also build a gate to a sealed cornerpost if the adjacent cornerpost is not sealed.

*Since palibashing is no longer possible, a palisade will keep you almost as safe as a [[Brickwall]], as long as you check regularly for siege engines and battering rams. Brickwalls only stand up longer to bashing and require characters with a higher total strength to operate the ram, but that won't make much of a difference.

*For practice, one may try building a small [[Roundpole Fence]]. The game mechanics for building the [[Roundpole Fence|fence]], Palisade, and [[Brickwall]] are identical. If you make a mistake with the fence, it's easy to see where you goofed up and correct. The only thing that is not the same is the building being blocked by water, fences can be built closer to water than Palisades or Brick walls.

*Wagons fit through two tile wide gates, though it can be a bit hard to position them correctly. It is suggested to build a three tile wide gate if you plan on using a wagon.

*It's posibble to build 3 tile wide gates. To do this you need to choose the option "Prepare for gate" and move the mouse to the 4th tile from the cornerpost.
[[File:ThreeTilesGates.jpg]]

<!--
*A hostile creature can still attack you if you're too close to the wall. [http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27270#p345766]

===Fishing Pole===

===Fishing Line===

===Fish Hook===

===Bait===
Bait is expendable meaning you can catch at maximum one fish per bait.

Some types of bait include: {{#ask: [[Category:bait]]}} {{#ask: [[Category:ants]]}}

===Lure===
Lures are durable, but they can be lost.

==Fishing Trash==

== Farming and quality of seeds ==
The quality of planted crops is based upon the quality of the planted seed with a [-5,&nbsp;+5]({{verify}}) random range limited by space, time, and the farmer's [[Skills#Farming|farming skill]] level. (needs {{verify}}cation whether soil still affects crops, doesn't seem to)
<!--*If the soil quality is lower than the quality of the planted seed, then the applied random range is capped to [-5,&nbsp;+2].-->
*Each batch of a crop which is planted in the same area (~2 minimaps), time (~5 hours), and of the same type (carrots, peas, barley, etc), will be given the same random quality modification uniformly, and planted tiles of that batch will thus all have their qualities affected in the same way. Each of the 3 qualities has its own modifier in this way, which oscillates between two random values over the course of the 5 hours.

Harvesting is not affected by the farming skill. However, it is affected by skills that add additional seeds - Gardening, Plant Lore and Druidic Rite; you will not get additional seeds if the harvesting character lacks these skills.

Crop byproducts, like [[Straw]] or [[Finer Plant Fibre]], are of the same quality as the planted seed.

To maximize quality gain, it is advisable to take any given quality of seed and split it up into multiple plantings. With maximum skills, plants will yield three times their number in plantings-worth of seed. Planting in three phases, at least 5 hours apart {{verify}} will give you three chances to score the +5. Whatever the results, the highest quality seed will be sufficient to repeat the planting. If expanding the crops is a priority, two plantings leaves enough seed to expand each planting by 50%. This method avoids the downside of a bad RNG result unless all three plantings roll poorly (which is unlikely). Therefore, doing this will consistently increase average seed quality, and thus product quality, over time.

Your hands lie heavy on plow and scythe, clawing in your palms the furrows of age and hard labor. You know how to till and plow, and how to plant seeds.

== What it does ==
Farming lets you plant and harvest crops (except [[Grape Seeds|grape seeds]], which need [[Winemaking]]), plant [[Tree|trees]], [[Wooden Plow|plow]] fields, mill [[Flour]], and craft [[Straw Hat]]s. You need at least 5 of the same seed to plant.
:*Grind [[Barley Flour|Flour]]

== How to plant seeds ==
To plant seeds in a [[Terraforming|plowed field]] you must left click the seeds in your inventory and then right click on the plowed field you wish to plant them on. Holding down the "Shift" key takes the next item out of your inventory so you may keep on right-clicking for continuous planting. Wait until the crops are ready and harvest. The time required depends on the type of crop and what you want to harvest from it.

Using well-placed [[Bee Skep|beehives]] will speed up this process.

In order plant faster, SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK on the seed in your inventory and click and drag on a plowed field. To harvest faster, SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK on a crop and click and drag to select an area to harvest.

==Seed Stacking==
As of Hafen, seeds of the same crop can stack (up to 50 in the inventory, 1000 in a bucket and 10000 in a barrel) if they have the same qualities. If you mix seeds with different qualities together, using a bucket or barrel, the resulting quality is:

<math>
qStack = \left ( \frac{qSeed1 + qSeed2 + qSeed3 ... qSeedn}{n} \right )
</math>

This weighted mean is independent for Essence, Substance and Vitality.
You can use this to raise the overall quality of your seeds of a given crop by sacrificing higher tier seeds.

[[Category:Pottery]]
A '''garden pot''' is used with [[Soil]], [[Water]], and certain types of foraged plants. Unlike the [[Treeplanter's Pot]], the '''Garden Pot''' is a liftable structure, and does not require a herbalist table. The [[quality]] is important for garden pots as it is one of the factors in determining the finished product's quality. Using [[Localized_Resources|Spring Water]] or [[Localized_Resources|Bat Guano]] instead of soil and water can increase the quantity of harvested plants.
<br><br>
''Note: the [[Gardening]] skill is required not only to craft the pot, but also to plant herbs into it once water and soil have been added.''

==Available Plants==
Only certain types of foraged plants can be put into a '''garden pot'''

==Available Plants==
Only certain types of foraged plants can be put into a '''garden pot'''

#Remove from kiln and place the pot.
#Place 4x [[Soil]] units into the pot (left-click on the soil, right-click on the pot)
#Place 1.0L of [[water]] into the pot (right click onto the pot with a water container).
#After the pot is filled with soil and water, put the foraged plant into the pot by left-clicking the plant and right-clicking on the pot.
#You can harvest the plant when "Harvest" becomes available in the right click menu, yielding 2 to 3 plants.

To empty the contents of the pot at any time, right-click on the pot and then select the Empty option.

Stoneware Vases are placed on a [[Table]] for decorative purposes as well as providing an FEP bonus and hunger reduction.

==Benefits==

At Base Quality 10, the Stoneware Vase offers an 8% hunger modifier as well as a +1% FEP Bonus.

==Notes==

*Each use of the table which the Stoneware Vase is placed on can cause the Stoneware Vase to degrade in quality.
*At quality 0, the vase is destroyed.
*The Stoneware Vase degrades moderately compared to other Symbel items.
*When combined with multiple items, the Stoneware Vase offers a lesser hunger benefit.

==How to Acquire==

Gather the ingredients into your inventory and execute the recipe:

{{Key|C|}}raft > The {{Key|S|}}ymbel > {{Key|D|}}ecorative Items > Stoneware Vase

This produces an Unburnt Stoneware Vase. Place the Unburnt Stoneware Vase into a [[Kiln]] and fire until complete, it requires 8 ticks of [[fuel]]. (Confirm length of burn.)
Morels are mushrooms that can be [[foraging|foraged]] with 150 [[Exploration]] * [[Perception]] (possibly less) {{verify}}.

==Uses==

Can be boiled by placing them in [[cauldron]]'s inventory grid and lighting the cauldron while it has sufficient water. [[Parboiled Morels]] give [[Perception]] FEPs when eaten.

Can be placed into a [[herbalist table]] to dry them. Dried morels give [[Strength]] FEPs when eaten.

For example a quality 20 dried morel gives 2.2 STR FEPs. However it still has a satiation chance of 30% that it will lower your forage satuation by 4%.
Your diet needs to be varied properly to be able to consume these and have it worth your while.
