The fishing skill allows you to craft and use [[Bushcraft Fishingpole]]s and [[Primitive Casting-Rod]]s and to fish for different [[:Category:Fish|types of fish]]. The fishing skill benefits from completion of the [[Credos]] - Fisherman.

==In-Game Text==
...
There are two types of fishing: Rod and pole. Pole fishing uses various forms of live or fleshy bait -- such as earthworms, entrails, or ants -- whereas Rod fishing uses lures. Fishing poles catch fish immediately whenever they bite, but the more demanding Rod fishing rather requires you to actually land the Fish by figuring out the many riddles of the sport. The truly rare fish of the world are caught with rods.

==How to Fish==
To fish you need four categories of items combined together with the fishing skill. These items are:
# A Fishing Pole
# Fishing Line
# Fish Hook
# Lures or Bait

===Fishing Pole===
Craft Either a [[Bushcraft Fishingpole]] or a [[Primitive Casting-Rod]].

*[[Primitive Casting-Rod]] must be used with Lures. Lures are not consumed as fish are caught. This is called Lure-Fishing

*[[Bushcraft Fishingpole]] uses bait. Fish are caught automatically and the Bait is Consumed and replaced per fish. This is called Bait-Fishing

===Fishing Line===
As of {{Patch|Fishing for Finery}} update. [[String]]s, as fishing lines, where replaced with dedicated crafted [[Fishline|fishing lines]].

{{#ask:[[Specific::Fishline]]|format=ul}}
(''No specific per-fishline details known'')

Fishing line occasionally break, so be sure to have backups. Higher quality fishing line tends to break less often.

The color of the fishing line is reflective of the type of line.

===Fish Hook===
A fish hook is added to the fishing pole by left clicking on the hook and then right clicking on the fishing pole. Fish hook types include:
*[[Bone Hook]]
*[[Chitin Hook]]
*[[Gold Hook]]
*[[Metal Hook]]

Fish hook are also occasionally lost. Using your prized gold nugget passed down by your ancestors might not be wise. Higher quality fish hooks tend to be lost less often.

===Bait===
Bait is expendable meaning you can catch at maximum one fish per bait.

Some types of bait include: {{#ask: [[Category:bait]]}}

===Lure===
Lures are durable, but they can be lost. {{SharedText|unlock_lures}}

Some types of lure include: {{#ask: [[Category:Fishing_Lure]]}}

==Fishing Trash==
When something is dropped in a body of water, it is added to a global pool of items that can be fished up anywhere in the world or found buried on the beach. Some people use this feature for charity by throwing their old equipment in the river. You can also drop a written parchment to send a message to a random fisherman as if it were a message in a bottle.

==Fishing==
'''Quoting Jorb:'''
Fish are now a limited and localized resource, working in the same way as any other localized resource. You should notice fish jumping in the water if the area has fish. What you catch when fishing depends on the following factors: Time of day, [[Water Terrain|location]], [[Fishing Lure|lure]], [[Fish Hook|hook]], [[Fishing Pole|pole]] and [[Fishing Line|line]] type as well as the quality level of each piece of fishing equipment.

===Bait Fishing===
Bait-Fishing is a semi-automated and a Semi-random activity using a Bushcraft Fishing Pole. Bait, line, and hook combo seem to have no strong correlation between fish types caught. Equip your pole, gather an inventory of bait, and begin fishing. You will automatically catch, recast, and re-bait your hook while bait fishing. The type of fish caught are random, based on the node you are fishing from, however the quality is hard-capped by your [[Survival]]. If you are simply looking to catch fish with no real desire for a certain type of fish, this is your easiest option.

===Lure Fishing===
Lure-Fishing using a Primitive Casting Rod is a more precise and manual activity. Lure, line, and hook type all play role in what species you will be able to catch. Every fish have certain line, hook, and lure combos that work best for it. If you are having difficulties catching a fish or keeping your lure, be sure to try new combinations. Equip your pole, gather some tackle, and begin fishing. You will be presented a list of fish to "aim" for, with a given % of how likely they are to bite. This list is a function of your [[Survival]] and [[Will]], so the higher both stats are, the larger your list will be. Max number of fishes in a list is limited by 10 and apparently is equal to <math>\lceil \sqrt{Will * Surv}/20 \rceil</math>. You can choose what kind of fish you want to catch. If you do not pick any, the game will automatically choose the fish with the highest % of biting.

If you can't find the fish you are looking for, move away from the current location to find another fish node. Note that there the chance to catch a specific type of fish within the node has an optimal location where it is maximized. Try different spots nearby and go in the direction where the chance increases until you find the best spot (works similar to maximum quality within forageable nodes, but for the catch chance). While the list normally shows only three types of fish, you may be able to catch more types of fish in the spot using the same lure, line and hook combination. For some types of fish (cave fish, for example), you may find the [[Fisher's Request for a Catch]] magic really useful (can boost the chance to bite from about 30% to 80%, for example).

==In-Game Text==

==How to Fish==
To fish you need four categories of items combined together with the fishing skill. These items are:
# A Fishing Pole
# Fishing Line
# Fish Hook
# Lures or Bait

===Fishing Pole===

===Fishing Line===
As of {{Patch|Fishing for Finery}} update. [[String]]s, as fishing lines, where replaced with dedicated crafted [[Fishline|fishing lines]].

{{#ask:[[Specific::Fishline]]|format=ul}}
(''No specific per-fishline details known'')

Fishing line occasionally break, so be sure to have backups. Higher quality fishing line tends to break less often.

The color of the fishing line is reflective of the type of line.

===Fish Hook===

===Bait===
Bait is expendable meaning you can catch at maximum one fish per bait.

Some types of bait include: {{#ask: [[Category:bait]]}}

===Lure===
Lures are durable, but they can be lost. {{SharedText|unlock_lures}}

Some types of lure include: {{#ask: [[Category:Fishing_Lure]]}}

==Fishing Trash==

==Fishing==

===Bait Fishing===

===Lure Fishing===

Used with a [[Treeplanter's Pot]] and any one of [[Apple Core]], [[Fir Cone]], [[Mulberry]], nut, pine cone or any catkin to create a new [[Tree]] of that type. Also used to dry [[Wild Windsown Weed]]s to random seeds, to hatch [[silkworm|Silkworms]], to cure [[Fresh Hemp Bud|Hemp Buds]], to dry [[tobacco|Tobacco]] leaves, to dry [[raisins|Raisins]] from [[grapes|Grapes]], to dry and ferment [[tea|Tea]] leaves, to dry [[Boiled Pepper Drupes]], and to germinate [[Barley Seeds]] & [[Wheat Seeds]] for [[beer|beermaking]].

==How to Acquire==

Building an Herbalist Table requires plant fibres, which may be difficult to find for new players.

1. Ask somebody nicely for plant fibres.

2. If nobody's willing to donate or trade, and you can't acquire them by less legal means, then harvest your own fibres from [[Hemp Crop]] or [[Flax Crop]]. To get those, dry [[Wild Windsown Weed|wild windsown weeds]] (WWW) on a [[Drying Frame|drying frame]], and with a random chance you get a flax or hemp seed. Plant seeds into plowed land, wait, harvest, gather the fibres, repeat. While drying WWWs on the Herbalist Table is much faster than on a frame '''(Real time: 2.6h instead of 16h)''', you can start farming without a table and build one after you get hemp or flax.

==How to use==

Place any of the precursors of items mentioned above to the Herbalist Table and wait. [[Trees]] take 1 hour and 15 minutes to sprout from [[Treeplanter's Pot|treeplanter's pots]]; [[Silkworm Egg]]s take 8 hours to hatch; [[Fresh Tea Leaves]] take 40 minutes to dry into [[Green Tea Leaves|green tea leaves]]; those ferment into [[Black Tea Leaves]] in 16 hours if left on the table. However the quality of black tea leaves will be closer to the quality of the table than the green tea ones, so be careful if your Herbalist Table quality is less than quality of your Fresh Tea Leaves. However making black tea is beneficial if your Herbalist Table q > Fresh Tea Leaves q)

You can also dry [[Wild Windsown Weed|WWWs]] on the table.

If you are looking for wheat or barley, drying WWWs on the table actually is recommended (as long as your table is the same quality of the seeds or higher). If a WWW dries into [[Wheat Seed|wheat seed]]s or [[Barley Seeds]] and is left on the table, it will germinate; even if you do not wish to use the germinated seeds to malt into beer, only ''four'' germinated seeds are required to plant one tile of wheat/barley rather than the usual five. This, combined with the positive influence of a high-quality herbalist table, makes germinating seeds quite desirable, especially if you do not already have a satisfactory wheat or barley crop.

==Notes==

When placing down many Herbalist Tables in a house (perhaps for a silk factory), it is possible to save a significant amount of floor space by arranging the tables off of the grid and on adjacent pixels. This is accomplished by right-clicking the table while lifting it and holding down the control key to move the table off of the axis. When placed completely adjacent, Herbalist Tables each take up only 7/11ths of a tile.

==Quality==

The quality of the Herbalist Table affects everything produced by it.

The quality of anything produced on a table is the average of the precursor item and the table quality. Wild Windsown Weeds are the exception - the output quality of seeds does not depend on the quality of the table.

The quality of an Herbalist Table is:

<math>\frac{_{q}AvgFibre + _{q}AvgBoard + _{q}AvgBlock}{3}</math>

To check a existing Herbalist Table quality, use {{GM|$Adventure|In$spect}}

==Time==

{{PAGENAME}} are penalties from eating specific foods. Every food item has a chance to cause one or two of the 17 satiation categories to become less effective, which can be seen as a percentage on the Base Attributes screen of the [[Glossary#Base Attributes|character sheet]], under Food Satiations.

The penalty comes into play in the following way:
<br>
<br>
<math>FEPGained = FoodFEPValue * HungerModifier * SatiationModifier</math>
<br>
But also decrease hunger in the following way:
<br>
<br>
<math>HungerGained = FoodHungerValue * SatiationModifier</math>
<br>
<br>
Evidently you should eat a varied diet to keep your satiations high so as not to hinder your FEP gain.

*<math>SatiationModifier = 100% - SatiationPenalty</math>

== Removing Satiations ==
*Satiations generally disappear in about two days and disappear faster the more satiated you are.

*All drinks restore stamina much like water, but they also buff particular food satiations. Mead, for example, buffs Game, Nuts and Vegetables by 0.5% and 1% respectively, per gulp at Q10. It is thus possible to decrease satiation to 0% by drinking. Do note that each drink also adds a negative satiation against itself, thus reducing the effect of further consumption. Also note that drinks will count as half-quality if you drink them from a non-preffered vessel (i.e. drinking wine from anything but a wine glass). Drinking vessel type does not affect the effective quality for stamina regeneration purposes.
Wine can be stored in a [[Barrel]].

Wine buffs the effects of [[Food Satiations|Fruit]] by 0.5%, [[Food Satiations|Cheese]] by 1.0% and [[Food Satiations|Meat]] per gulp at [[Quality|Q10]]. Each drink will also add a negative satiation against itself, thus granting diminishing return on the buff.

==How to Acquire==
Build a [[Demijohn]] and fill it with [[Grapejuice]]. Juice turns to wine after one week. In order to halt the fermented wine's further progression into [[Vinegar]], one must store it in a barrel or a [[Wine Bottle]].
==How to Use==
The proper way to drink wine is from the [[Wine Glass]], not drinking out of a proper vessel halves the effective quality of your wine.
==Drinking==

*Quality 10 wine recovers 10% stamina and drains 20% energy per 0.05L sip. Higher quality wine will decrease the energy drain but stamina recovery remains the same at all qualities.
:*This makes high quality wine useful for performing stamina draining tasks without having to eat as much to recover, thus preserving your hunger bonus. Though energy is always shown as a whole number, it is not simply rounded up or down. For example, Q11 wine will alternate between draining 20% and 19% energy at regular intervals. Other drinkable liquids follow the same rules and formula.
*Energy Drain = <math>(\frac{1}{\sqrt{quality/10}} + 1) * 10</math>
:*According to that formula initial quality growth is more effective, and it always higher than 10% per 0.05 sip. Naturally stamina regenerate 10% per 10% energy.
==Quality==
The quality of the wine depends solely on the quality of the grapejuice.

==Notes==

* Alcohol does not reduce travel weariness like it did in Legacy.

* Implemented buff functionality in update {{patch|title|Grade-A Milk}}.

[[Category:Guide]]
{{PAGENAME}} are penalties from eating specific foods. Every food item has a chance to cause one or two of the 17 satiation categories to become less effective, which can be seen as a percentage on the Base Attributes screen of the [[Glossary#Base Attributes|character sheet]], under Food Satiations.

The penalty comes into play in the following way:
<br>
<br>
<math>FEPGained = FoodFEPValue * HungerModifier * SatiationModifier</math>
<br>
<br>
But also decrease hunger in the following way:
<br>
<br>
<math>HungerGained = FoodHungerValue * SatiationModifier</math>
<br>
<br>
Evidently you should eat a varied diet to keep your satiations high so as not to hinder your FEP gain.

*<math>SatiationModifier = 100% - SatiationPenalty</math>

== Removing Satiations ==

A '''garden pot''' is used with [[Soil]], [[Water]], and certain types of foraged plants. Unlike the [[Treeplanter's Pot]], the '''Garden Pot''' is a liftable structure, and does not require a herbalist table. The [[quality]] is important for garden pots as it is one of the factors in determining the finished product's quality. Using [[Localized_Resources|Spring Water]] or [[Localized_Resources|Bat Guano]] instead of soil and water can increase the quantity of harvested plants.
<br><br>
''Note: the [[Gardening]] skill is required not only to craft the pot, but also to plant herbs into it once water and soil have been added.''

==Available Plants==
[[Category:Pottery]]

==Available Plants==
Only certain types of foraged plants can be put into a '''garden pot'''

[[{{PAGENAME}}]]s allow you to construct roads to teleport and pathfind along. They can't be built indoors.

==How to Use==

*You can teleport using the stone milestone or a wooden roadsign.
*Stone milestones can connect/create up to 4 roads, whereas [[Wooden Roadsign]]s can only create 1.
*Stone roads are a lot more difficult to grief, with much higher soak and hp.
*You can connect wooden roadsigns to the end of a stone road to allow bidirectional travel.
*When travelling a road, you get a "waylaid" debuff that lasts 10-15 minutes, allowing travel along the road from any point.

==How to Acquire==
'''Note: the paragraphs below are Legacy info and need to be verified'''

Once you have an initial milestone constructed, you can build mini milestones by right clicking the initial milestone. Continue right clicking the new milestones to create more. Link them, and you have a path-findable road.

If you use a sign to connect the last stone to itself, it will make a character following the trail turn around at the end and start following the trail in the opposite direction instead of stopping at the end of the trail. You can no longer extend this trail. If you want to extend it, you'll have to destroy the last milestone. Then the new last milestone will have gone back to default last milestone behaviour.

==Quoting Jorb==

Build a milestone. (Right) Click "Extend". You now have a cursor to place a second milestone. The second milestone needs to be placed within 500 pixels of the one you just extended from. You can CTRL+LMB to walk with this cursor active (much like archery). Place as many milestones as seems adequate. On the original milestone, select "Make Trail". You now get to name the trail, and you'll be given a sign. Connect this trail sign to the next milestone. This next milestone can now be right clicked to retrieve yet another sign. Connect this new sign to the next milestone again, and, again, picking up new signs as you move along. Wash, rinse and repeat. Once you've connected up a nice little trail, you can now follow it by rightclicking on any of the connected milestones. Your dude will walk, and pathfind, as best as he can, along the road.

The radius on the original milestone, shown during placement, is the "turn radius". Once the dude enters this circle, when following a trail, he'll start pathfinding towards the next stone in line.

==Word for the Wise==

Road posts take a very high strength value to destroy, well above the strength you will have by the time you are able to build them. Even for established players they are time consuming to destroy. If you build a road, make sure to place the posts relatively close together so you don't walk off the road (dragging carts this is a serious hazard). Plan out corners well in advance, and try to only build roads that won't interfere with other peoples building. No player likes taking these things down.
