A Stone Axe is made from 1 stone and 1 branch. It can be used to chop down a tree, shear a sheep, skin and butcher an Creature or for combat (30 base damage). It increases the effectiveness of destroying objects (adds 1 damage when destroying) and affects quality of skins, raw meats, intestines, and entrails when skinning and butchering.

One is required to cut a log into blockss. With a Metal Axe, you get ~25% more blocks per log than you get with a stone axe. Different types of logs provide different amounts of blocks, see more here.

Quality
The quality of a stone axe is the average of materials used, and is softcapped by Intelligence and Survival.

Upgrades
Metal Axe chops trees down faster and with less stamina cost, and produces more blocks from logs than stone axe. Woodsman's Axe chops down trees even faster while producing same amount of blocks as Metal Axe.

A metal plow is an object used to plow a field. When a player right clicks a plow, he assumes control of the plow with the player moving behind it. Using a wooden plow uses considerably less stamina than Landscape > Plow Field. The metal plow is one of the few items that can be moved without picking it up (although you can pick it up). It also moves faster than the Wooden Plow moving at running speed as oppose to the wooden plow's crawling speed, and not only does it save time, it saves Stamina as well.

How to Use
After right clicking the plow, left click an area to move the plow towards that area. Each time a plow leaves a tile, it will plow that field regardless if how far it went previously. A plow, however, cannot traverse through paved ground. To stop plowing, right click anywhere on the screen.

$Adventure

A personal claim marks your own piece of land, making it and everything on it your property. Claims protect objects from decay, prevent Hearthlings without Theft from stealing your objects and items, and without Vandalism from performing actions such as digging, destroying, building, setting down piles, etc. Paving is no longer required to stop decay.

How to Acquire
To claim land, you need the Yeomanry skill.

To build a Claim Pole, navigate to dventure > aven & Hearth > laim land. Whoever places the construction sign becomes the owner of the claim.

The initial claim area is a 5x5 square around the totem. It can be expanded at the cost of 10 LP per square (note that personal claims do not refund LP anymore, so what's spent is lost after declaiming). This is done by increasing the dimensions of the claim (north, east, south, west).

There is no limit to the amount of personal claims a single character can have, although any beyond the first, cost 4000 LP to finish building. Two personal claims can't be built or extended within 5 tiles of one another. They cannot cover a Localized Resource.

Presence
Claims now require Presence to stay active, which works similarly to Authority on Village Claims. Presence will drain gradually over time. When it drops to 0 (two real-life months from fully charged), the claim becomes inactive: objects start to decay, no scents are left for Theft or Vandalism and the Claim Pole can be bashed by hand.

Upon completing the Claim Pole, the person who finishes it receives an item called A Bond of Blood & Soil. This is essentially your deed to the property, and shows how much Presence the claim currently has. You can name a bond by right-clicking it.

Claims start off inactive, with 0 Presence, 0 soak, and any damage to them is increased tenfold. During this time anyone can access the claimed area and everything on it. Only after 8 hours AND after the Pole has been visited again by the claim owner will they become active and begin accumulating Presence (this is to prevent troll-claims by providing some initial window during which they can be destroyed freely). After this window, you can refill your Presence at any time at the Claim Pole, do note however that this consumes LP, and is intended as an emergency measure only. The better way is to put your bond in your Study Report, which gives your claim a free Presence point for every LP you earn, without using it up.

If you should lose your bond by dropping, dying or by having it stolen, you can renew it at the Claim Pole, which destroys your old bond and gives you a new one. The cost for this is half your max Presence. Anyone who finds your bond can study it for 96 hours to take ownership of your claim, so it's advised to renew it as soon as possible.

Moving the Claim Pole
You can move your claim pole to another position inside your claimed area by simply building a new one. The old one will disappear and the new one takes its place.

Notes
*Personal claims cannot be revoked by a village extending onto it. They can only be revoked if the village owned the land claim is on before the personal claim was made.

*If the claim owner dies and inherits from their ancestor, the claim is inherited by the descendant. The area covered by the claim is not reduced upon inheritance, unlike skills and LP.

*Permissions can be changed on the fly by changing a kin's chat colour, which is linked to the permissions toggled for each colour at the Pole.

*Caution when setting white permissions on a personal claim. Anyone you memorize or kin is set to white as a default. This is useful for claiming a spot and setting certain actions to allow "public access" to the claim, but may come with complications.

*Even a newly created character can walk through a claim they have no rights to by turning on Criminal Acts in dventure > oggles, but this action leaves an Odor of Trespassing.

*Party members will have ALL permissions to your claim regardless of what you have assigned to them via kin's chat colour. Only form parties with people you trust completely.

*There is an exception to the rule above. For quite some time now you're able to decide whether or not party members can fully access your claim. You can do so by going into dventure > oggle > Toggle arty Permissions.

*Notable exceptions to the prevention of decay are looms and cupboards, which always decay when placed outside.

*If inactive, Claim Poles have no soak and can be easily destroyed by hand.

*You cannot claim a Localized Resource with a Personal Claim.
Pavement is the result of laying metal, stone and bricks, which requires Stone Working. The benefit of paving land is that stamina drain is reduced when running and sprinting and that most structures decay slowly on unclaimed paved land.

Notes
*If you make a mistake, it's easiest to use dventure > Ladscaping > Stomp to irt to remove pavement. Native terrain will grow back in a few days. To remove pavement in caves and mines use dventure > ig.

*Bats won't spawn on pavement, which can be used to make safe paths in caves and mines. Note that this will also prevent forageables from spawning there.

*If you pave where crops are growing, they will keep growing. They can still be harvested when they mature.

*There are currently some terrains that cannot be paved, notably swamps, stoneflats, beaches, and water. You also cannot pave on any forest tiles (including player-grown), but these can be plowed and then paved.

*Re-implemented metal paving in update title at the cost of one bar per tile.

*Important: Paved tiles decay by being overgrown with vines (implemented in update title). Vines may start growing over the tile hit by decay when it is out of an active claim, and is bordering a natural tile or another tile with vines already on it. Further decay hits to tiles with vines will cause the vines to grow. And with the final fourth hit the paving and the vines growing over it are removed, decaying into a bordering natural tile. In total, decay of a large pavings starts around the edges and gradually corrodes its way into the center of the paved area.
**Vines can be removed dventure > Destro

Whirlpools are a special type of object that are found infrequently in rivers and lakes. They were introduced at the beginning of World 10.

How to Use
Whirlpools function as both a utility and a hazard. Using a whirlpool will transport you to another whirlpool somewhere else in the world, offering a fast mode of transportation across large distances.

However, using a whirlpool inflicts decay damage on your ship, and it is possible to break your ship and drown to death. Caution should be used with whirlpools, and it's advised to only use undamaged ships when entering whirlpools.

Notes
According to research done by LostJustice on the forums, whirlpools behave as follows:

-Whirlpools are not bidirectional, meaning that the 'destination' of one whirlpool does not necessarily connect to the original whirlpool.

-Whirlpools deal a base damage of 50% on boats, multiplied by the number of people in the boat. This means that entering a whirlpool with more than one person in your boat will result in certain death (or at least destroy your boat).

-Whirlpool destinations are temporary, and appear to change randomly every two weeks.

}}

Entrances to caves can be found around the world on the side of cliffs. When entered, they lead to a cave.

Caves function similarly to Mineholes. They lead underground. Currently, all caves lead to Level 1, can only be found on the surface, and cannot be artificially created.

Caves are often used as small camps or homesteads, since they have reduced decay and can lead to metal. Since Mineholes can be expensive to build, caves will usually be your best bet for getting access to metal early-game.

Special flora and fauna native to the underground spawn here, such as Glimmermoss, Cavebulbs and Stalagooms, and Bats, Trolls and Green Ooze.

Anytime a cave appears on your minimap while on the surface, and anytime you enter a cave, there is a chance you can trigger an experience.

When fermenting cheese, setting cheese in a cave counts as setting it in a Minehole.

Caves are much more common in Hafen than they were in Legacy Haven.\

Decay does happen in caves since W11, but at 1/10th (10%) of the speed.

Flora
Anytime while adventuring around, you can find things such as Cavebulbs, Stalagooms, Cave Coral and Glimmermoss on the ground. They are forageables, and therefor you can pick them.

Stalagooms are a small, white mushroom. They can be studied, but you can also eat them if you have unlocked the perk that allows you to do so in the Cave Hermit credo.

Cavebulbs are highly sought after, not only because they themselves give Psyche when eaten, a very hard to raise attribute since few foods give it, but can also be used to make Butter-steamed Cavebulbs, one of the best Psyche foods.

Glimmermoss is even more valuable than Cavebulbs, as they are one of the best Curiosities in the game.

Cave Coral is a decent Curiosity, and can be used to make a Cave Coral Ring, a primitive ring.

You may also rarely find Cave Clay, a green type of clay, in shallow water underground, and even rarer simply lying on the ground. It is a Fine Clay, making it very precious and valuable in the crafting of Bone Clay.

Cave Lanterns are a rare, green-glowing mushroom. They are both a curio and useable in mushroom recipes.

Witherstand can be found around the area, and Withercorn, a food, can be harvested from them.

Poppycaps can also be found. You can harvest Poppycaps from them, or destroy them for extra ones if they're empty.

Lamp Stalks are essentially underground Cattails which function as curiosities. Be careful though, as there is a chance that what you're picking isn't a Lamp Stalk at all!

You may also spot a Towercap, which is a giant mushroom that functions as both a tree and mine support.

Fauna
There is less fauna in caves than on the surface, but they all are more unique and interesting.

The most common are Bats, which are aggressive, can fly, attack in packs, and can be quite dangerous to a new Hearthling. However, if you are to fashion a cape from their skin and wings, a Bat Wing, if you will, they will recognize you as their own and will not attack you. Keep in mind they will still fight back if you attack them!

About as common as bats are Cave Moths. They function similarly to Silkmoths or Monarch Butterflies. They fly around without a care in the world, and if you're quick you can catch and study them.

Rats prefer the moist dankness of a cave and sometimes make homes there. Forest Snails, as well, enjoy the isolation and safety of a cave, and can be found making their way through the tunnels.

Occasionally you may find a Cave Centipede scurrying about. They are both a curio, and can be skewered and roasted.

You can sometimes spot a group of Stalagoombas wandering around. They are a decent curio.

Boreworms are usually seen deeper down, but can spawn on any level. They can burrow into the ground and come up somewhere else like Moles, and are quite tough. Their hides, when dry, act as leather, even when they haven't been tanned yet.

Cave Louse, disgusting beetle-like creatures, are also seen in deeper levels. They are very strong and spawn in large herds, meaning it can take some doing (And many people.) to exterminate them.

Green Ooze, or more commonly referred to as Slimes, are green, sentient piles of a gelatinous substance. They can sometimes spawn on a tile that has been mined, and although they aren't too strong alone, when critically hurt they split into multiple more Slimes, meaning you must kill them fast. They give Cave Slime when killed, which is used in some foods, and can even be eaten raw once you've unlocked the required perk from the Cave Hermit credo, the same one that allows you to eat Stalagooms.

Among the most fearsome, and most curious, is the Chasm Conch, a massive snail with thick armor. These creatures are the only ones in the game to have an armor value, at around 200/400. This makes armor piercing weapons necessary for victory against them. When killed, they can be butchered for unique meats and other resources. However, most notable is after being butchered they leave behind their shell, which can be chipped for Shards of Conch. These shards both act as a stone (An imaginably rare stone!) and can be used to build a one-of-a-kind chair!

However, the rarest creature found in the underground is a Troll.

Trolls are the strongest creatures in the game. They are hostile to everyone but people who have fully completed the Cave Hermit credo. They often take large groups of strong players to kill, drop very valuable loot, and deal high-damage attacks capable of killing quickly, often in just a few hits!

Items and Materials
The walls of caves can be mined using an axe or pickaxe, and will give whatever stone/ore is inside the tiles you're mining. You can randomly get Cat Gold, Petrified Seashells, and Strange Crystals when mining, all of which act as overall bad Curiosities, except Cat Gold can be used to make Pyrite Sparks, a quick an easy fire-lighting tool, and Golden Cats, a very much good Curiosity, and Petrified Seashells can be used to make a Fossil Collection, which is also a good curio.

You can also find Rock Crystals, Geysers, Guano Piles and Great Cave Organs rarely in a cave, all of which have unique properties. See Localized Resources for more information.

Stalagmites are relatively common, and can be chipped like a boulder. They can only give Limestone.

}}
$Build

A rowboat can hold up to two liftable items (such as containers or constructions) and travel at running speed in water. Rowboats can also carry up to two people, a navigator and a passenger, and are liftable themselves but cannot be placed inside other Rowboats, Carts, Wagons or other similar objects.

Since Rowboats can carry 2 two liftable items, like Coffers or Crates, players can use Rowboats to transport a much larger number of items at faster speeds.

Note: When lifting a full rowboat with 2 liftable items in it, you will move at a very slow pace (slower than crawling).

Usage
To board a rowboat, right-click on the boat when it's on a water tile. When you are ready to leave the rowboat, you must press Ctrl+left-click in the direction you wish to get out. If you have swimming, be careful you do not select to get out into deep water while swimming is enabled (disabled by default) or you may accidentally drown. Those without the Swimming skill do not need to worry since the game will prevent you from exiting the rowboat into deep water without the skill.

You, as well as your passenger, can fish while sitting in a rowboat.

Tarring The Rowboat
After building your Rowboat, apply 2.5L of Tar to the boat. Completing this step is required to make the rowboat Sea-worthy.

Alternative
Alternative to Rowboat is a Knarr, which can be build after discovering Any Common Metal, Tarsticks, Rope, Bone Glue, Board and Block of Wood.

Notes
* Added variable materials in update title.

* Rowboats can only be built on land.

* Rowboats cannot carry live animals or vehicles.

* You can pick up liftable objects while sitting in a boat. You can then put them in the boat by right-clicking it, if you have enough space. It doesn't apply to vehicles such as other rowboats (you can lift them, but not put them in the boat).

* You can place cupboards inside of a boat, however they can only be placed while empty.

* Rowboat speed - 7.5 tile per second.

* Boats, just like wagons, can travel freely through claimed areas without the need for criminal action. (Exit the boat with care when doing so.)

Gameplay
*Since boat stealing could earn you the wrath of the more physically capable players, it might be best to hide your extra boats.

A log cabin is a constructable building. Inside is a 4x4 tile housing in which furniture or liftable containers can be stored. Anything liftable left in a log cabin will not decay, making it a good storage area.

This is especially true for Cupboards which are destroyed in one decay hit. Any items that can go into the housed cupboard (Such as blocks of wood, straw, and any other inventory item.) can still be lost, however.

If a log cabin is allowed to decay completely, all objects contained inside will be appear where the cabin once stood.

How to Acquire
In order to begin constructing a log cabin you must have a 5x5* paved or grassland area of flat ground for the log cabin to set down. See Terraforming for information on how to level terrain, plow a field, and lay stone. Log cabins require 80 blocks of wood, 40 boards, and 20 thatching material of any type, making it unwise to begin construction without ready access to wood and boughs.

Like other higher soak buildings, Log Cabins start with very little when they're first constructed, slowly gaining more over the course of 3 days until their soak is at maximum. This makes it possible for even a brand new character to destroy a freshly built cabin in a short amount of time with just a stone axe.

How to Acquire
PAGENAMEs can be found on a few specific terrains: two forest terrains, one grassland (Moor) and near Graves.

If you happen across one, and have the foraging skill, you can harvest it. There is no known way to purposely produce PAGENAME, so they can only be found by chance and by increasing exploration and perception skills. The lowest reported Perception * Exploration score to spot PAGENAME has been 240 (16 EXP, 15 PER).
The only product that utilizes PAGENAME are Nidbane Fetters.
How to Acquire
Once you have an initial milestone constructed, you can build mini milestones by right clicking the initial milestone. Continue right clicking the new milestones to create more. Link them, and you have a path-findable road.

If you use a sign to connect the last stone to itself, it will make a character following the trail turn around at the end and start following the trail in the opposite direction instead of stopping at the end of the trail. You can no longer extend this trail. If you want to extend it, you'll have to destroy the last milestone. Then the new last milestone will have gone back to default last milestone behaviour.

Quoting Jorb
Build a milestone. (Right) Click "Extend". You now have a cursor to place a second milestone. The second milestone needs to be placed within 500 pixels of the one you just extended from. You can CTRL+LMB to walk with this cursor active (much like archery). Place as many milestones as seems adequate. On the original milestone, select "Make Trail". You now get to name the trail, and you'll be given a sign. Connect this trail sign to the next milestone. This next milestone can now be right clicked to retrieve yet another sign. Connect this new sign to the next milestone again, and, again, picking up new signs as you move along. Wash, rinse and repeat. Once you've connected up a nice little trail, you can now follow it by rightclicking on any of the connected milestones. Your dude will walk, and pathfind, as best as he can, along the road.

The radius on the original milestone, shown during placement, is the "turn radius". Once the dude enters this circle, when following a trail, he'll start pathfinding towards the next stone in line.

Word for the Wise
Road posts take a very high strength value to destroy, well above the strength you will have by the time you are able to build them. Even for established players they are time consuming to destroy. If you build a road, make sure to place the posts relatively close together so you don't walk off the road (dragging carts this is a serious hazard). Plan out corners well in advance, and try to only build roads that won't interfere with other peoples building. No player likes taking these things down.

How to Use
*You can teleport using the stone milestone or a wooden roadsign.
*Stone milestones can connect/create up to 4 roads, whereas Wooden Roadsigns can only create 1.
*Stone roads are a lot more difficult to grief, with much higher soak and hp.
*You can connect wooden roadsigns to the end of a stone road to allow bidirectional travel.
*When travelling a road, you get a "waylaid" debuff that lasts 10-15 minutes, allowing travel along the road from any point.
Note: the following info is from Legacy Haven and needs to be verifyd!

Trolls are the strongest creatures in the game, with a lot of HP, and the strongest hits per each strike. Trolls are also extremely rare with only a handful of reported encounters of finding them when mining out a tile underground. It's about 0.002% chance of respawn from each mining grid. Little is known about them, aside from the fact that their bones and skulls are prized trade-goods, the latter because of its use as a curiosity.
They do not have ability to cross water, allowing for ranged fighters to take them down easily. Their level is dependent on the depth of the mine they are found in.

He's got about 800 HP at mining level 1 (Caves) and about 5000 HP at mining level 5. He can kill new clear character (alt) in 1 hit dealing about 300-750 damage in 1 hit, at the same time knocking out our character, and in the next hit - killing character. To hit, Troll sometimes has to gain 2 IP; It's giving a little moment before hit.

Raw Hide and Meat are softcapped by Survival and your carving tool. Bones are only softcapped by Survival.

$Adventure

Pavement is the result of laying stone and bricks, which requires Stone Working. The benefit of paving land is that stamina drain is reduced when running and sprinting and that most structures decay slowly on unclaimed paved land. (is the latter still true?)

*There are currently some terrains that cannot be paved, notibly swamps, stoneflats, beaches, and water. You also cannot pave on any forest tiles (including player-grown), but these can be plowed and then paved.

Pavement Order
Paved tiles overlap surrounding tiles a little on each side. When different types of pavement are placed next to each other, they follow a specific order in which one type always overlaps the other.

The order is as follows:
:Bricks: Red (Acre) Brick » Yellow (Ball) Brick » Special stones: Slag » Cat Gold » Stones: Marble » Feldspar » Flint » Limestone » Schist » Quartz » Dolomite » Sandstone » Porphyry » Basalt » Granite » Gneiss » Cinnabar » Ores: Horn Silver » Galena » Cassiterite » Chalcopyrite » Heavy Earth » Iron Ochre » Bloodstone

(still needs some ores, pit bricks, rock crystal)

The Knarr is a large transport ship, capable of carrying 10 people and 64 units of cargo, such as bodies or chests. It also has a 10x10 inventory space for individual items. The Knarr has a base speed of four (which is the same as the rowboat), which increases asymptotically toward 8 with increased quality.

It has to be constructed in water. Only one person is required to operate it. Currently it can not be locked or otherwise protected against theft.
