When placing the mine support, the support radius is visible.

The squares around the support that is safe to mine

Supports hold up the mine to prevent cave-ins.

Don't mine near the edge of the circle, because it won't prevent cave-ins.

Mine supports can be destroyed if a stone falls on it in a cave-in.
