Sand is used to make glass. It is present around lakes many lakes, the most common near the Ring of Brodgar, accesable by walking around the lake or a short trip by boat.
Like other powders, sand disappears if dropped from the inventory.
How to Acquire
Find a beach (around the large blue lake East of the Ring of Brodgar, near Laketown) and dig for clay on the beach tiles.
