Backpacks use the "Back (6R)" equipment slot. While equipped, it extends your inventory slots by 2 horizontal bars, giving you 8 more slots. Because it uses the back slot, it cannot be used simultaneously with a quiver.
How to Acquire
Craft [C] > Leather Working [L] > Backpack [p]
You'll need 4 pieces of leather and the leather working skill. You can access the backpack option under the leather working section of your craft menu.
