About quality of coal:

Have 46Q tar kiln , fill it with random 40-49Q blocks (sure bcs i dont have any woods above 50Q). Fill it not full (about 3/4).

As result i get 110 coals of 52Q...

Need to test:

- Fill it halves and 3/4 and full same blocks same Q

- Fill it different types of blocks same Q

Test 1:

Tar Kiln 1 46 Q = Pine Block 46Q x 60 = Coal 46 Q x 120

Tar Kiln 2 47 Q = Pine Block 46Q x 20 + Kings Oak Block 46Q x 20 + Figwood Block 46 Q x 20 (finished 15% faster than Tar Kiln 1) = Coal 46.2 Q x 120

Test 2:

Tar Kiln 55 Q = Oak Block 54Q x 50 = Coal 54.2 Q x 100

Test 3:

Tar Kiln 1 46 Q = Oak Block 51Q x 40 = Coal 50 Q x 80

Tar Kiln 2 47 Q = Oak Block 51Q x 80 = Coal 50 Q x 160

Finished same time

TarKiln(q1), Mirkwood(40xq10), q-out(7.8 <= 7.75) - Complies to know formula. (PS: Coal output quantity is always 2 x blocks input btw. ie: no real need to include it unless it breaks that rule)

Just a thought. Output tar results (quality and amount) might give some additional inside in the used formula(s). One problem though, currently lacking good data on tar-amounts per tree-type block. Potential problem two: Tar and coal quality outcome might be using significant different formulas. Ergo: its a bit of a long shot.

Other thought. When using blocks with virtual the same quality as the tar kiln (nice as potential base-line results). The off target differences will also be small (potentially indistinguishable). For finding where thinks go of target its better to spread the used qualities over a as large range as possible.

TarKiln(q40), Blocks(40), Block_Type(Random pick, one each), Avg-Q(109.375, min:49, max:129), Q_Out_Calc(92,03125), Q_Out_Game(92.0), Tar_out(2.0L) - Complies to know formula.

TarKiln(q1), Blocks(40), Block_Type(Random pick, one each), Q(10), Q_Out_Calc(7.75), Q_Out_Game(7.8), Tar_out(2.0L) - Complies to know formula.

TarKiln(q1), Blocks(59), Type(Sallow(17),Lote(19),Beech(23):Order(<-)), Q(10), Q_Out_Calc(7.75), Q_Out_Game(7.8), Tar_out(2.86L) - Complies to know formula.

TarKiln(q1), Blocks(59), Type(Larch(17),Juniper(19),Warty Birch(23)), Q_Avg_G(55.15), Q_Out_Calc(51.364...), Q_Out_Game(51.4), Tar_out(2.86L) - Complies to know formula.
Blocks data:

  • Larch: [31q*2, 52q*4, 76q*4, 102q*4, 116q*3], Larch_Avg(78,235...(1330/17))
  • Juniper: [16q*3, 36q*4, 49q*4, 53q*4, 81q*4], Juniper_Avg(48,63...(924/19))
  • Warty Birch: [27q*2, 34q*4, 36*8, 43q*2, 61q*4, 64q*3], Warty Birch_Avg(43,478...(1000/23))
    • Avg_Avg: 56,78... (((1330/17)+(924/19)+(1000/23))/3) - If averaged would be calculated per block-types. Eliminated as potential case.
    • Avg_Global: 55,15... (3254/59)

So far nothing was found that even hints at what might be the reason for the reported odd Q outcome. Going with some potential user mistake for the time being until some better reproducible case data is reported. --.MvGulik. 12:52, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
