I feel like a slight freshen up of the homepage might be good, mostly stuff aimed at new players as this is the best source of information there is.

Maybe stuff like "Escaping Starting Area" could be "Starting a New Character", maybe locate it towards the top of the page. Pages about combat could be upfront on top and maybe unified in a way to teach new players to stay away from things. Soukuw (talk) 04:46, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
Page for Securing Your Home
I would like a page to summarize the current siege mechanics. Let me know if this already exists, I couldn't find it. Important things to have on the page:
*how do the siege weapons interact with each other / with hearthlings / with normal buildings / with claim objects?
*how do the different types of claims interact with each other?
*common security mistakes to watch out for
*locks / keys / gate / visitor gates rules
*drying times of all relevant siege weaponry
*vulnerability windows for claim objects and siege weapons

A lot of this info already exists on separate pages, I just think there should be a summary page linking to all the relevant security pages.

Update to home page--"unofficial"
Probably a good idea to make sure it's clear that this is an unofficial wiki that is supported by the players, not an official wiki that the devs keep updated. It might generate a few more people interested in providing information, fixing pages, and uploading images. (It might also eliminate many of the "wiki is wrong, therefore it's a bug" posts.

Thought I'd ask about this update before simply implementing the correct to get some input on the matter. (Also posting the same question on the forums.)

:Not sure if that "How quality works" is still relevant. "Beginner Guide to Village Roles" seems not time sensitive.
:Going more general. Currently the guide section on the main RoB homepage has 4 lines. And adding one line more seems not a real problem. But that don't changes the inherent low available space on the subject. The "Other Guides" link on the RoB homepage is one solution, but is limited in editing/updating by forum-post creator. An alternative could of course be to setup a dedicated RoB page with links to (potential) forum guide topics (and potential individual posts if warranted) --.MvGulik. 05:22, 25 December 2020 (UTC)

Legacy/updated pages
I think it's been long enough and everything I've ran across has been moved to a "Legacy:<page>" and the page updated to information relative to the current world. Might be worth it to update the "legacy" banner to read more appropriately such as
:"Escaping Starting Area" seem not 'that' wrong as link title to me, as truly new users might potentially get lost in it due to not knowing what to do (but only ones I expect). I think the general location of things/links don't matter 'that' much here. As long as things are grouped and labeled properly. "The RoB Wiki currently hosts information for both the current Haven & Hearth world as well as the legacy server. Please be aware that information relating to legacy should be found on pages with "legacy" in the name. While our editors have done their best to get things sorted, please be aware there may be some pages that haven't been moved properly and may still be flagged that the information is legacy and may not apply to the current world."

Hello everyone, I have just registered and am trying to understand how it works so maybe I can help out in the future.
I wanted to suggest, if possible, to put the server time, season and day, on the front page, it might be useful for many.

I'm not the best writer when it comes to passing on this kind of information, but I think I am getting the general idea across. MagicManICT

Remove the GLoSQ link?
I'm pretty sure that we used to have indicator for that, but then Winter was changed to five days, down from five. This broke the system Wiki used.

The forum post for the Grand List of Simple Questions has essentially been deleted, with venatorvenator replacing his posts with 'Oh boy was this outdated'. Is there still enough information in this thread, and is it worth the effort of having people try to skim through it to find that information, to merit it being linked on the wiki's front page anymore? If not we should probably remove it. --Frission (talk) 14:43, 31 May 2017 (EDT)
While this is presumably something that would have been fixable, I can understand that motivation for that could be limited. They could not know if devs decide to make further adjustments to season lengths, requiring indicator to be fixed again.

It's not so much that the GLoSQ should be read or skimmed, but it should be known that it is used to post simple questions instead of making one line threads in the HDI section of the forum. I'll PM granger and request him to create a meaningful OP for that thread.
Not long ago I might have said that the current seasons system with five days of winter is here to stay, but considering the "anti-winter radiance" of various base objects, devs could think that main problem with winter has been solved and it's okay to make winter ten days again.

Other than that
The thread is also meant to be searched, not skimmed. Since it's a sticky (and one of four in "How Do I?") on the forums, I really don't see a point in having it linked here. The others have been consolidated into a "guides" list so it's helpful to have them linked here as a second way to keep from being overlooked.--MagicManICT (talk) 13:14, 23 August 2017 (EDT)
It also needed to be recalculated and updated after 'every' server timeout. And as creator & sole maintainer (and final canceler) of it. I got tired of doing that. If the related server date/time data could have been easily pulled from some online source or with some tool (ie: without the need to go into the game itself for this) the story might have ended differently.

Subject 2

Hello everyone, I have just registered and am trying to understand how it works so maybe I can help out in the future. I wanted to suggest, if possible, to put the server time, season and day, on the front page, it might be useful for many.

"server time, season and day, on the front page"

I'm pretty sure that we used to have indicator for that, but then Winter was changed to five days, down from five. This broke the system Wiki used.

While this is presumably something that would have been fixable, I can understand that motivation for that could be limited. They could not know if devs decide to make further adjustments to season lengths, requiring indicator to be fixed again.

Not long ago I might have said that the current seasons system with five days of winter is here to stay, but considering the "anti-winter radiance" of various base objects, devs could think that main problem with winter has been solved and it's okay to make winter ten days again.

Other than that

It also needed to be recalculated and updated after 'every' server timeout. And as creator & sole maintainer (and final canceler) of it. I got tired of doing that. If the related server date/time data could have been easily pulled from some online source or with some tool (ie: without the need to go into the game itself for this) the story might have ended differently.
