Did not heal over time without treatment. Unlike other wounds, damage HHP in small percentage of total HHP.

Having a Deep Worm wound can give a diminished total FEP gain.

Speculation

What causes the parasitic infection (or at least the exact game mechanics of it) remain unclear.

Despite insect bites not being real-life vector for gastrointestinal parasites, Midge Swarm, Tick, Sand Flea have been commonly blamed for this wound by the playerbase.

From the realism perspective, perhaps Spitroasting is considered "undercooking" due to different method and more intact carcass, which could help parasite eggs survive. -Vatas
