Creating Your Character
When creating a character you will begin as a small shining ball with no form and no name, which you will choose now. There are three NPCs in this room, as well as a chest, a ladder, and potentially a staircase.
The NPC to the eastern side of the water will let you choose your gender; right-click him to switch between the two options.
The NPC on the northern side of the water will help you choose a name; right-click her and type in the name you desire for your character. If it is already taken, you will have to choose something else. Or use the Gen button to auto generate a name.
Inside the Chest, on the southern edge of the water, will be:
- a Linen Pants
- a Linen Shirt
- a Newsboy's Cap or High Hat
- a Torch
- and a pair of Clogs
Exit
There are three options for exiting:
- You can choose to inherit the stats, claim, and Hearth Fire of a character of yours that has been killed. When you exit out the ladder, you will spawn at that character's Hearth. If your ancestor did not have a hearth fire, you will spawn in the wilderness.
- If you choose not to inherit one of your dead characters as an ancestor, when you exit out the ladder you will spawn randomly in the world's wilderness.
- You may right-click the NPC in the northwestern corner of the room and enter a Hearth Secret, if you know one, to spawn at another character's Hearth. When you enter a valid Hearth Secret, a staircase will appear next to the NPC, which will take you to their Hearth.
Notes
- Spanning multiple characters at the same target HF will trigger a spanning waiting time.
