In-Game Text
"Denoting a tool as being 'primitive' is an expression of utmost gratitude toward the ancestors."
Primitive tools is the skill that gives your hearthling the ability to construct basic tools of survival.
Information
Every new player starts with this skill.
The three basic tools that you can make are a bone saw, a kuksa and a stone axe. You cannot actually use the bone saw until you have the skill carpentry. The kuksa is a birch bark drinking cup, which you can drink water from. You need to find a birch tree to make one. (As birches don't ever grow in pine-fir forests, starting in such a forest means no bark unless you wander, trade or get lucky with wild weeds; go for leather and waterskins / waterbags instead.) The stone axe has multiple uses, as a primitive weapon and tool. It allows you to chop trees, remove stumps and cut logs into wood blocks. With the bone saw and the carpentry skill you gain boards and can now build pretty much anything from wood, unless it requires other techs and materials.
The basic stone axe increases the effectivity of chipping stone and destroying objects; it will serve as your first melee weapon. The stone axe and bone saw will remain your main carpentry tools until you gain access to iron.
