A Saw is the metal equivalent of the Bone Saw. One is required to make cut a log into boards. With a metal saw, you get 6 boards from each log, instead of the 4 boards you get with a Bone Saw.
The quality of a saw is affected by Smithing and capped by metal quality. It affects the quality of boards you can produce, and their quality is softcapped by Carpentry. The formula for saw quality is .
How to Acquire
You need a smithy's hammer equipped and be standing next to an anvil.
Notes
When quantity is not an issue and quality is, you want to use the best-quality saw you can get. Bone saws are a lot easier to get at higher qualities than metal saws. This is due the fact bone saws are based off of the Survival skill and Bone Material quality; the metal saw involves metal quality and the Smithing skill. It's fairly easy to get a 150+ quality bone saw, but Wrought Iron is much more difficult to improve.
