Tips, general behaviour text.

Some stuff in the tips here are probably better placed (and than linked) in some other page dealing/explaining general in-game behaviour. Currently the swill page comes to my mind for this ... --.MvGulik. 08:22, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

Scaring of doves.

Just had two doves fly out a Dovecote, while standing at least 6 tiles away from it. Was doing some tree chopping and planting around it, as I placed the Dovecote inside my tree farm. The question that it raises is whether it was just a random in-game effect, or where they actually scared of by my activity. For now I would go with random in-game effect. Although the general agro range some animals have could have been applied in a different form to the Dovecote. --.MvGulik. 08:36, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

Homesteaded Rock Dove.

>"Once the bird is Homesteaded to a Birdhouse, it will always return to said structure once release."

  • There might be a caveat here. In that this might not apply to doves that are not carrying an item.
    • Releasing an empty dove is known to just drop them to the ground. Unclear at this moment is if the dove eventually returns to the birdhouse. Needles to say that in the mean time it can potentially be pickup (or killed), by other hearthlings(on horse).

Reproduce/Breeding.

Wild doves are know to breed in a dovecote. (although its not clear what rules are in play here.)
But What about domestic doves!

  • They can be placed in the dovecote.
  • But they are also prone to leaving the dovecote again. (To make sure you don't lose them. Its best done by using homestead doves the are carrying an item. Did not work consistently ...)

DoveCote "Dove score" system.

'Dove score' shows as system message/+chat when a dovecote is inspected with the inspection tool.
Max seen so far: 8.6
Min seen so far: -18.60 (-14.6 + -4)
Repeated removing(+adding(-1.0)) of the same dove stops draining the rating when at, or below, -14.0 points.
Adding dove costs -1.0 points no matter what. (domestic dove. but probably also with wild doves(ie: no 100% sure))
A negative rating stops attracting new doves.
Removing feathers: +1.0 per feather. (feather is same q as dove that dropped it (adds -1.0 to rating).)
Removing shits: +1.0 per shit. (shit is same q as dove that dropped it (adds -1.0 to rating).)
Potential damage taken seems related to the number of feathers + shit in the dovecote. Something to the effect of (feathers+shit)±N.
Took 15 damage on 4 feathers + 4 shit +(1 dove, 2 eggs). It might be that the potential damage (per item probably) grows over time.
Removing eggs: +2.0 per egg. (assuming is was a dead/unfertilized egg)
Looking into dovecote generally costs -1.0 points. At which point one can keep looking for free for a limited time. (time-delay unknown yet)
Removing egg (probably non fertilized (the brooding homesteaded dove found wandering outside some minute earlier), no other stuff present in dovecote): Before: -0.4, After: 0.6. (diff: +1.0)
Looking into dovecote (had one wild dove in it. empty before). Before: 0.8, After: -0.2 (diff: -1.0) (No damage)
Looking into dovecote while two doves flew off had no effect on rating. No doves remained either. ... ? (potential 1 or more doves flying of count as one(+1.0)
Looking into dovecote: -1.0 (same for an empty one, and one with one dove. Both had positive ratings, and were looked in relative shortly before.) ... Fits
Looking into dovecote: +0.7 (?) had one dove, two eggs(dead it seems), 8(feathers+shit)
General rating increase speed ...(todo). Initial estimate based on some questionable data: ~0.02 point/hour(gt), or ~0,065 points/hour(rt).
Adding Food and water rating effect (if any) ...(todo)
