Honey is a cooking ingredient used in several high-tier food recipes. It is produced by Bee Hives when they are near growing crops.
Honey is one of the few liquids that can be stored in a Bucket but not a Barrel.
How to Acquire
Honey is produced while there are growing crops in a bee hive's area of effect, which is a circle with a 13 tile radius (which will be displayed while building a bee hive). The rate of honey production appears to be dependent on how many crops are growing nearby. Multiple hives cannot share the same crops; two hives side by side will each produce half the honey that a single hive would.
When a bee hive appears to be leaking honey, it can be harvested by right-clicking the hive with a bucket. The quality of honey and wax produced is in general equal to the quality of crops that the bees feed on. Several factors can effect quality and lower it such as not enough crops growing or slow growing crops. Failure to keep crops replanted as they mature will also lower the quality of products a hive produces.
