Hemp is a plant that is generally harvested for Plant Fibres Each tile harvested will yield 1-3 seeds depending on your Nature/Industry belief slider. The plant fibre will drop to the ground and must be picked up manually.
If hemp is harvested at the second to last stage where the plants sprout orange buds, then harvesting hemp will yield Fresh Hemp Buds which can be dried on herbalist table and smoked to gain bonus to FEP when eating. However, harvesting at this stage will not yield hemp seeds or plant fibres.
Hemp grows faster than Flax (about 2 hours faster), while providing Plant Fibres as well as Hemp Buds, thus making flax a lackluster alternative in most situations.
