Legacy Haven & Hearth page.
"The RoB Wiki currently hosts information for both the current Haven & Hearth world as well as the legacy server. Please be aware that information relating to legacy should be found on pages with "legacy" in the name. While our editors have done their best to get things sorted, please be aware there may be some pages that haven't been moved properly and may still be flagged that the information is legacy and may not apply to the current world."

Just in case. There is a Legacy specific discussion page.

Similar to the Barter Stand, but instead of items it uses coins.

Ownership

The Vending Stand have their own rules of ownership.
The difference, between a stand and normal objects, on claimed ground. In terms of ownership, is that anyone can interact with a stand even if they would normally lack the privileges to interact with items in the claimed area. (As is also the case with, for example, runestones)

Ergo:

  • If someone has put items for sale in a stand, anyone else can buy them regardless if the stand is on claimed or unclaimed ground.
  • Taking items, with theft, will always count as theft regardless if the stand is on claimed or unclaimed ground.

Taking ownership

  • The player who puts the first item into a empty and unclaimed(no owner) stand becomes the current owner of that stand. (regardless if the stand is on claimed or unclaimed ground.)
  • Note that stand ownership is not inheritable, and there is also no other way to force ownership on a other character. So if the owner of a stand dies there is no way to gain control again for that stand.

Release ownership

  • Removing the last item for sale, after first removing all payment items, releases your ownership of the barter stand.

You can use the stand "Change Sign" option to check if the release was successful. (See notes)

Stand destruction

  • None owned stands follow the same general rules as for other claimed or unclaimed objects.
  • Claimed stands follow the same rules as for Hearth Fires. Ergo: You can destroy a stand(owned, but not by you) on your personal claim without leaving vandalism scent.

Usage

Once it's built, right-click the stand to access the UI.

  • Clicking the "Change Sign" in the bottom right of the interface changes the small wooden sign that displays.
  • To put items in the Vending Stand, simply click those items in your inventory and click them into the stand. Those items will then be available for sale.
  • To change the price of items for sale, click "Change" next to those items. This will display 2 boxes. The first box allows you to enter an amount, the second is a quality.
  • By default, all items will initially go on sale for 1 Gold Coin. To use other coins, click "Change" and then click the coin image. This will cycle through: Gold, Cast Iron, Wrought Iron, Steel, Tin, Copper, Bronze, Silver coins.
  • Press enter when you've finished and your changes (should) be saved. Vending Stand seems bugged when trying to change coins and seems to take a couple of attempts before it works. :/

Commercial counter is done as written above. Afterwards you simply lay out to it any article and assign it a price.

The counters did not gain much popularity due to lack of centralization, high variability of "coin" worth and limited availability of those to many players. Furthermore trading with use of Village Claim proved much easier by allowing trade parties to cover unlimited distances to exchange their goods.

Notes

  • The inventory-size of the items used affects how many items can be stocked (for sale) in the Barter Stand, shown by the "slots" entry at the bottom. (Slots counter is bugged)
  • The stand "Change sign" option only works for the owner of a stand. As such this can be used to check if releasing your ownership of a stand was successful.
  • Vending stands were introduced on 8-Nov-2009.
