Quality of coal / fuel / crucible seems to have no impact on quality of steel. I have put 2 wrought irons of quality 25 and 28 and 2 coals of quality 40. Crucible's quality was around 40. Fueled with quality 38-43 coal, and as a result I got ql 25 and 28 steel bars.--Procne2 03:59, 25 June 2011 (CDT)

The quality of coal/fuel/crucible will softcap the steel. The approximate formula for how much the softcap is is: 

(CoalQ + CrucibleQ + FuelQ)/3

Does the fuel glitch work with this? if i left the mats and one piece and of charcoal in the crucible for a considerable amount of time, then lit it, would that work?--Urist McCarpenter 16:49, 23 December 2011 (EST)

The fuel glitch does not work on this. The wrought iron has a progress bar during the time it is being made into steel. --ApocalypsePlease 01:39, 28 December 2011 (EST)

Mmm, That 4 on the fuel page seems to come from MagicManICT(August 2011). Not a unreliable source. But it could also be a simple mistake (which seems more likely to me in this case). Having it checked/verified would be best. --.MvGulik. 16:57, 16 July 2013 (EDT)

Wrought Iron versus Steel ratio ?

The main page says: "Place up to two bars of wrought iron and ... into a steel crucible.". But other than that there is no clear specification if two bars of wrought iron produce only one bar of steel. I never messed with metal production in HnH, so I don't know. So is the wrought iron versus steel ratio 1:1 or 2:1 ? --.MvGulik. 14:23, 26 October 2013 (EDT)

Steel Crucible have 2 Slots for each 1 Bar of wrought Iron and 1 Charcoal - each filled slot gives 1 Steel Bar - both slots filled gve 2 Steel Bars --Borka (talk) 20:12, 13 January 2014 (EST)
