Like to help in finding remaining unknown soak values, but don't care about the math stuff.
At page Soak_data_dump one can dump raw soak-test data.

How to find the soak value of a structure. (soak >= 4)

1) Try to find a hearthling that.

  • a) With its bare minimal strength and no additional tool is to weak to damage the structure.
  • b) Can be pushed to the next strength level by using some STR gilded items. (9,16,25,36,etc. See image)
  • c) Can damage the objects by using one of the additional tools and/or with its next STR level.

Note: When trying to do some damage. Either you get a to weak message. Or your hearthling starts to take a swing, at which point you can disengage without doing any real damage. (doing damage not really needed in this case)

2) input the used strength, and used tool value into the following formula.

(Tool values: 0:None/Hand, 1:General Axe(any), 2:Pickaxe, 4:Sledgehammer(not advised due to the 2 to 4 jump).)
If to weak the soak value is equal or greater than your Damage Points.
If not to weak the soak value is equal or less than your Damage Points minus 1.

3) If to weak, up your strength/tool to move into the "Next strength level". Or if you work your way down, lower your strength/tool to go into the "Prev strength level".

Note: Switching tools puts you directly into an other strength level. ie: do that before potentially adjusting the hearthlings strength.
(or a bit more)
(or a bit less)

4) One's you found the two consecutive damage values on either side of the line. The lesser one is the structure soak value.

For objects with a soak value less or equal to 3 a strength downgraded hearthling is needed. Like STR = 1. An adder bite on some fresh alt will do that trick.

Lowering Strength for low soak objects, useful?

Most reliable way to reduce Strength is probably the "Dragon's Bite" -wound (See Opium). You need to eat some CON food first to not die, and assuming you want to hit 1 STR, not eat anything that gives STR.

On closer inspection, you should have CON floor of 1 that should leave you with 10 MHP to spare, so if you figure out a consistent way to gain 1-9 points of Dragon's Bite, you might not even need CON food.

Only downside is having to procure the opium.

A more general alternative would be an Adder Bite(-15 STR).

Hitpoints (structure)

A little Google Spreadsheet that can be used in finding the hit-points of a structure. (should be fairly self explanatory) --.MvGulik. 10:41, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
