Lamb vs Kid

Rolled back "Lamb" to "Kid" change. Although "kid" might also be used for a lamb, "lamb" is not applicable to a (human)kid. As such "lamb" is less ambiguous than "kid". This suggested change will need additional reasons to switch to a more ambiguous name. --.MvGulik. 06:06, 24 January 2020 (EST)

I believe both "kid" and "lamb" are exclusive to the specific specie, so the kid change was technically correct in dictionary term. Although in lay term, kid and lamb are known to be interchangable, not just one or the other.

Forgot to specify human to "kid". As such "kid" applies to two species. "lamb" to only one. Although technically correct, I'm not sure "kid" will work as well as "lamb" for most none native English players. --.MvGulik. 07:43, 24 January 2020 (EST)

I'm in favor of using kid instead of lamb in this article. At least in American English, baby goats are not called lambs. People think of sheep when you say lamb. The use of kid for goats is older than the use of kid for human children. For (human)kid it started as slang[1] and gradually it became more widely used, so we had to adjust for the ambiguity by writing "kid goat" whenever we want to be extra clear we meant the goat version of the word. However, if we already have an animal context we usually just say "kid." I hear you on the non-native English speakers part. Would "kid goat" work for non-native English speakers?
