Bar of Sturdy Metal

There's a number of items that require Bar of Bronze OR Bar of Cast Iron OR Bar of Wrought Iron OR Bar of Steel, specificaly they're:

I was thinking about making a stub page "Bar of Sturdy Metal", which would have as subtypes the forementioned bars, and use that page in infoboxes to shorten the display and somewhat clarify which components are choosable and which are obligatory. Any thoughts on that? --Rook (talk) 22:36, 19 October 2013 (EDT)

Digging up some data:
Anvil, Miner's Helm, Scythe, Shovel, Stone Mansion
[Bronze, Cast Iron, Wrought Iron, Steel]

gfx\invobjs\bar-hardmetal(tooltip): [Bronze, Iron or Steel] (?:Iron->Cast Iron, Wrought Iron)
gfx\invobjs\bar-toolmetal(tooltip): [Any Common Metal]

Hard Metal Cutlery [Cast Iron, Bronze, Steel] (?:Wrought Iron)

Soft Metal Cutlery [Common Metal]
Common Metal [Bronze, Cast Iron, Copper, Steel, Tin, Wrought Iron]
Common Metal-hardmetal [Copper, Tin, (?:Wrought Iron)]
- - -
Other look at it.
gfx\invobjs\bar-bronze -> [toolmetal, hardmetal]
gfx\invobjs\bar-castiron -> [toolmetal, hardmetal]
gfx\invobjs\bar-copper -> [toolmetal]
gfx\invobjs\bar-gold -> <...>
gfx\invobjs\bar-silver -> <...>
gfx\invobjs\bar-steel -> [toolmetal, hardmetal]
gfx\invobjs\bar-tin -> [toolmetal]
gfx\invobjs\bar-wroughtiron -> [toolmetal, ?:hardmetal] (wroughtiron probably not part of hardmetal set)

gfx\invobjs\bar-toolmetal -> Common Metal (all exept gold & silver)
gfx\invobjs\bar-hardmetal -> [bronze, iron, steel] (is sub-set of tool-/common-metal)
gfx\invobjs\bar-iron -> [?:wroughtiron + castiron] (wroughtiron probably not part of iron set)
gfx\invobjs\bar-metal -> (all metals I guess)
Seems ok to me. Only problem I see is that "Hard Metal Cutlery" page is not specifying Wrought Iron. Which might just be because it was never tested/verified and added to that page. --.MvGulik. 04:10, 20 October 2013 (EDT)
Mmm, there might be other objects using those metal types except Wrought Iron.
B1(+wIron): Anvil, Miner's Helm, Scythe, Shovel, Stone Mansion.
B2(-wIron): Anvil, Cutthroat Knuckles, Large Chest, Metal Plow, Miner's Helm, Pickaxe, Scythe, Shovel, Sledgehammer, Smithy's Hammer, Stone Mansion.
B2-B1: Cutthroat Knuckles, Large Chest, Metal Plow, Pickaxe, Sledgehammer, Smithy's Hammer.
N1(+wIron): Metal Hook.
N2(-wIron): Hard Metal Cutlery, Metal Hook, Peppermill, Tiny Abacus.
N2-N1: Hard Metal Cutlery, Peppermill, Tiny Abacus
Note: I don't have a good mental image on the iron(cast/wrought) use inside the game. --.MvGulik. 05:10, 20 October 2013 (EDT)

So i've used Hard Metal page, removed wrought iron from it so that many more objects benefit from it, renamed the page and linked. Only thing left to do is removing old page redirect --Rook (talk) 06:53, 21 October 2013 (EDT)

Hard Metal bar's are also Common Metal bar's, But there is more than one way to do this. A) adding both specific::Common/Hard to hard metals, or B) add one specific::common to the Hard Metal Bar page. Option A and B are kinda exclusive I think. Not sure about which to pick. --.MvGulik. 17:53, 21 October 2013 (EDT)

Are you sure about this? There were plenty of items that did have common metal as requirement but not all of iron, steel or bronze. Can they be made with more than what originally was linked to it? --Rook (talk) 04:00, 22 October 2013 (EDT)
I'm I sure. Well now that you ask, not really. Kinda based is on a assumption that seemed logical, strengthen by the data in the Nugget_of_Any_Common_Metal page. But as that turns out to be a #ask query. It becomes even more questionable. (nts:needs more work/data, and verification) --.MvGulik. 05:04, 22 October 2013 (EDT)

AFAIK the term "Sturdy Metal" doesn't appear ingame thus it shouldn't appear in RoB Wiki - it just confuses

"Do i need Sturdy Metal to build a Sturdy Bed?!?"

(Also there's no term "Sturdy Metal" anyways - sturdy is always connected to things that's made of the Material not the Material itself)

Common - all metal except silver + gold (uncommon), Hard - all except tin, copper, silver and gold (soft). With Iron either CastIron or WroughtIron is meant - otherwise the tooltips state Cast or Wrought... So requirements for Stone Mansion should state: Bronze or Iron or Steel x5 Bars Why are you going to make it more complicated? ;) --Borka (talk) 10:34, 22 October 2013 (EDT)

Sturdy Metal was just Rook's initial pick (when he created this section), but in his implementations he switch to using hard metal. - Thanks for additional information. (you could use a bit more wiki-exercise there Borka. ;) ) --.MvGulik. 11:33, 22 October 2013 (EDT)
I've done it because infoboxes with so many "or" weren't clear as to what was obligatory component and what was not. As for name, sturdy metal was just something i got from the top of my head, not the most fortunate choice i agree. --Rook (talk) 16:35, 22 October 2013 (EDT)
""Sturdy Metal" doesn't appear ingame thus it shouldn't appear in RoB Wiki - it just confuses" this is a valid point, i have a mind of reverting all the changes and just switching around and changing emphasis between ors to make it clearer (busy atm but perhaps later). --Rook (talk) 09:31, 23 October 2013 (EDT)
