A Gemcutter's Wheel can be used to improve the cut of Gemstones, which increases the stats related to the gemstone, but has a chance to instead decrease both cut and size. Gems that decrease in size may become multiple copies of the new, smaller gem. A gem that cannot decrease any further will instead shatter, becoming Gemdust.

The Gemcutter's Wheel can only cut gems that are smaller or equivalent to the size of gem you used to create the workstation. For instance, to cut a Jotun Gem, you must have first crafted your Gemcutter's Wheel with a Jotun Gem.

Quality

The Gemcutter's wheel softcaps the quality of the gems, while additionally influencing the chance of your success during the Cut Gemstone action.

Notes

  • When you do, you have a chance to improve the cut of the gemstone one step, i.e. from rough to smooth, from smooth to cabochon... to pear, to heart, to brilliant. You may also fail the cutting, which will reduce your gem one step in both cut and size, with some random chances of getting additional smaller gems as shards. ~jorb
  • Your chance to succeed when cutting increases with all the values presented by the gemcutting recipe: and is softcapped by Gemcutter's Wheel. ~jorb
