Adventure > Landscaping > Stomp to Dirt
Among the terrain that can be found in the Hearthlands, Dirt is unique, existing as the only terrain, besides Grass, which can be directly made by a Hearthling and found naturally. To create Dirt, you have to plow a forest terrain, or stomp Grass to dirt. (Its not known if dirt tiles spawn anything, like forageables or animals. ... They probably do not.)
Dirt can naturally spawn in the form of long, thin Game Trails which increase the spawn rate of large animals in the surrounding forest. New game trails can form throughout the lifespan of a world, and old ones can fade over time. [Verify]
