Combat
Behaviour
Not aggressive until provoked. Attacking one Roe Deer also provokes all male members of the flock.
They're extremely fast on foot; you'll need a horse on at least 3rd, sometimes even 4th speed to outpace them.
Strategy
Roe deer are lesser versions of their Red cousins. They are weak in HP and power, but extremely fast hitting. Early on, it's best to fight them in a boat or near a cave you can duck into; fighting on horseback is possible but they're so quick on their feet one deer will waste most of your pony power.
You'll need around 40 AGI and MC/UA, and some weapon and melee move, to comfortably tussle with them. They attack quickly, but their damage output is low; let them stack openings on you while you spam Quick Barrage or Sideswipe until their openings are at 60-70%. Opportunity Knocks can help here. Duck into a cave or row your boat back and restore yourself when your openings reach 40% or so. Once their openings are high, use Cleave or Full Circle. Just one or two hits will leave them fleeing. It's best to peace them out, then either reaggro later, or put an arrow in them, to finish them off.
