You can chop a log into 12 Blocks of Wood with a stone axe, or saw it into 12 (14?) Boards with a Bone Saw, or 6 with an Saw. You need Carpentry to obtain boards.
How to Acquire
Right click on a Tree, select the "Chop" option to chop it down.
Pine, Oak, and Maple trees give three logs; Fir and Elm trees give two; Apple and most other fruit trees give one log.
Afterwards, a Stump will remain which can be removed.
Notes
- When crafting a log into blocks or boards, make sure the 3x3 area around the log is clear as the created blocks and boards are created on the ground. Being too close to a tree or other immovable structures may leave you with some inaccessible blocks or boards.
- When copping down a tree, the produced tree logs will fall Eastwards. If the logs fall inside a immovable structure the tree logs become inaccessible. From the tree center, the logs fall at a approximated distance of 3.0, 4.4 and 5.8 tiles.
- Tree logs do not decay.
