Star Shard is a special type of Gemstone, that can be applied to any item in-game to buff it's quality, depends on shard cut and size.
How to Acquire
Shards are obtained by mining in a Cave from Star Shard Vein. They can be any size but unlike other Gemstones can be acquired only in rough cut.
How to Use
Left-click shard and then right-click any item or instrument to permanently increase their quality by certain amount from table below:
Star trickle-down paths
- Swill & Compost: Takes just one stared item to turn into stared product. (will not revert when adding non stared stuff)
- Chickens & Rabbits: Become starred after eating starred food. Offspring will also be starred if one of the parents is starred.
- Domestic animals: Satiety becomes stared after eating starred food. Which (so far) only seems to directly effect milk. (Wool stayed non-starred so far. Milk: Bucket(has no effect here), Wool: Sharp tool. Other than satiety stats, the game is not showing any direct other star related info on domestic animals.)
WARNING: Custom clients that seem to display some starred (or better not starred) status on objects (like trees or tree-logs) don't really show the real starred status. They display a default assumed "non starred" status ... as the starred status information is not provided by the game/server for objects (only for items).
