Wooden skis that can be carried in your inventory or on your backpack slot.

Usage

To hop on your skis, drop them from the inventory onto a ground tile, then right-click on the skis and select "Ski off". To jump of the skis you can press Ctrl+left-click in the direction you wish to exit. Right-clicking the skis while mounted and selecting "Pick up" is also possible to dismount them.

You will move at crawling speed on non-snow/ice tiles. You can select your speed up to sprinting on snow or ice. Running speed will not consume any stamina, sprinting speed will consume it rapidly.

Unlike the Kicksled, your speed is the same on snow and ice tiles.

Notes

  • Just like with horses. For entering houses, while on skis, one will need to come in at a near 90 degree angle. (leaving the skis at the door allows direct exit after remounting them - Unfortunately mounting skis indoors fixes the speed to a crawl. Which persists when going outside for at least 1.5 tiles around 'any' building. But can extend to ~8 tiles in some cases.)
  • Bandy towards a player on wilderness skis don't works. But a player on skis can bandy a player that's not on skis.
  • A player on skis can's operate a Wheelbarrow. (assume similar limitations here like while on a horse or kicksled)
  • A player on skis makes no moving sounds ... at all. (annoyingly silent)

Appearance

The appearance of the skis is dictated by the materials used.

Skis made from Plane (Left) and Alder (Right)
