Snow can, outside the winter season, always be found covering the peaks of Mountain biomes and can be obtained by digging. It is used to craft Snowmen, Snowballs, and, most importantly, the healing item Cold Compress.
Snow normally decays 12 hours after being collected. To keep the snow from melting it needs to be stored in a cellar. Which slows/stops the melting for about a whole game year. How the snow is stored, stockpiled or in containers, don't matters.
Snow can be melted by placing it into a lit cauldron. Cauldron should have at least 5 liters of boiling water. Each snow piece converts to 1 liter of water roughly in 1 minute which adds to cauldron. Water quality is not affected by cauldron. Snow put in a cauldron during winter will melt in spring and the water will be added to the cauldron.
How to Acquire
Use
Adventure > Dig on snow covered ground.
- For mountain snow the hearthling will keep digging the same tile.
- For winter snow covered ground it will just do on tile, exposing the terrain below it.
- To collect snow from more than one tile use Shift&Right-Mouse-Click on the snow and then select the area you like to clear of snow (shovel highly advised). (this option don't works for mountain snow.)
