The quality of a Raw Hide is affected by survival and the sharp tool quality (ie.: stone axe).
If (ToolQ < HideQ) then HideQ = (HideQ + ToolQ) / 2
If (Survival < HideQ) then HideQ = (HideQ + Survival) / 2 Tool quality softcap is applied before the survival softcap.
The quality of a Raw Hide is affected by survival and the sharp tool quality (ie.: stone axe).
Specifically, the base hide quality is first softcapped by the sharp tool quality and then softcapped by your survival skill.
How to Acquire
A hide can be acquired by right clicking an un-butchered animal corpse and selecting "Skin". This will remove the animal's hide and place it in your inventory or on the ground. Skinned animals can still be butchered. Un-skinnable animals include rats, chickens, frogs, and silkmoths.
