Hvalraf is a type of Solid Fat and Wax, which can be used in certain recipes which call for either kinds of material.

How to Acquire

You will need a Cachalot skull, and you will then have to scrape the waxy deposit from its skull. The quality of the Hvalraf will remain the same as the butchered Cachalot it is harvested from.

Trivia

Hvalraf is the Icelandic term for a waxy, sebaceous substance known as Spermaceti. This wax-like substance is formed by an organ located in the heads of many whales and the mass accumulation of wax is thought to assist the animal with many things, such as buoyancy or the detection of sounds used for echolocation.
