Water is a resource that requires a container that can hold liquid and is used for many forms of crafting. Most water is quality 10. Occasionally parts of the map will have higher quality Water nodes. Because if this, high quality water is fairly valued and may be traded as commodity. Water is one factor in obtaining high quality trees. For more information on finding high quality water, see Finding high quality water, clay, and soil.

Water can also be used to regain stamina.

Drinking

  • Quality 10 water recovers 10% stamina and drains 20% energy per 0.05L sip. Higher quality water will decrease the energy drain but stamina recovery remains the same at all qualities.
  • This makes high quality water useful for performing stamina draining tasks without having to eat as much to recover, thus preserving your hunger bonus. Though energy is always shown as a whole number, it is not simply rounded up or down. For example, Q11 water will alternate between draining 20% and 19% energy at regular intervals. Other drinkable liquids follow the same rules and formula, making them decent substitutes for water if you have a surplus since it is much easier to increase their quality.
  • Energy Drain =
  • According to that formula initial quality growth is more effective, and it always higher than 10% per 0.05 sip. Naturally stamina regenerate 10% per 10% energy.

How to Acquire

Water can be acquired from a Well or from any Water tile (left click on container and then right click on water).

Note: To get the water discovery for a character, one needs to get some water directly from a fresh water source. Take water from a well, lake, river, or distill Salt Water in a Still. Taking water stored in other containers will not give the water discovery.

How to Use

All containers can be used to collect, move, drink, and store water.

Generally, a Kuksa, Waterskin, or Waterflask is used to carry water on your character to regain stamina while travelling.
If large quantities of water are needed, carrying a Bucket to drink from is also an option.

For a list of containers which can hold liquid, visit the liquids page.
