WARNING: YOU CANNOT BRING A HORSE INTO THIS DUNGEON! This is because to enter this dungeon you must right-click the entrance and press "Killevepen!", which is unlike all other dungeons in which you merely right-click the door to enter. Due to this the horse is never properly asked to teleport with you, so you are left on foot within the dungeon. Be very careful as getting KOed even once can spell doom; you cannot hearth home and as such you're very liable to get stuck in a loop of waking up, taking one hit at 1 SHP and getting KOed again, quickly killing you with concussion damage. Never enter this dungeon without a friend to draw aggression of enemies while you escape unless you are far overlevelled.
Rat Dungeons are Dungeons found sometimes when entering house. They are filled with tough creatures, treasure, and a boss at the end.
You cannot hearth home while inside a Dungeon, even if you get KOed, so if you do, your only choice is to wait until you get up, and then sprint for the exit.
All dungeon enemies cannot Execute, but they can repeatedly KO you and kill you via a Concussion and have no armor.
How to Find
Occasionally a hole in the wall may spawn inside houses, to which is affixed a myserious nail. Incanting the strange words upon the nail, by right-clicking, will allow you to enter the Kingdom-under-the-Floorboards of Ratdom. - Jorb
Rat Dungeons are full of Caverats with varying degrees of strength, rat related loot, Cheese, Seeds of Trees or Bushes and Small Heart Containers.
Getting Through the Ratdom
The Ratdom is compiled like a maze, with a variety of rooms and halls, which can split into as many as four ways.
There are generally 5 types of rooms within the dungeon, which can be large open rooms or short confined hallways:
Entrance: The entrance to the dungeon can never spawn enemies, so if you enter and there are enemies waiting for you, someone has already been there and lead them to the entrance.
Eliminate: These rooms have all except the door you entered from locked. To unlock them, you need to wipe out all enemies that spawned in the room, at which point none more can spawn, and all doors will be unlocked.
Charge: These rooms have a static, unbreakable stone totem with a glowing orange gauge in the middle and will spawn ants infinitely until the room is completed. The gauge charges as you kill ants, and once it reaches the top, the room will complete, and all doors will unlock, and all ants will stop spawning.
Treasure Room: These rooms contain liftable 5x5 Rat Chests with some loot inside.
Boss Room: This large room contains the best chests and loot, many enemies, and the dungeon boss.
The Boss
The boss of the dungeon is the Rat King, a creature based off a real-life phenomena that consists of various rats with their tails tangled within a golden crown. The boss moves at roughly run speed, meaning you will need to sprint to outrun/kite him, so bring plenty of water. He has just over 1000 HP and has firepower similar to a boar, with combat moves to match.
Once killed, he can be Untied to collect the crown as well as butcher the corpses of the rats that made him.
It's worth noting that the Rat King can often spawn with part of his hitbox inside a wall or doorway, leaving him immobile. If this happens, he can easily be killed by using a Giant Needle from within his own dungeon to hit him from outside his attack range.
The Escape
Once the boss is defeated, anyone who dealt damage to her gains the Untying the Knot and a Small Heart Container will spawn near the center of the boss room.
Afterwards, the entire dungeon will begin shaking violently. Rat King however cant be lifted but can be untangling and tear apart to some random dungeon rats.
After all hearthlings have exited, the dungeon will continue to visibly shake for a few minutes, then collapse into the ground, never to be seen again.
The Spoils
Within the dungeon you can find big Cheese chunks which can be cutted into 4-6 pieces of random cheese, also you can find Giant thread spool that can be unspooled to gather some Rat Fibre and 1 Giant Needle, which is good early source of Rat Cloth and strong 2-handed spear.
The king himself will give a lot of Raw Caverat, Entrails and Bone Material, and his signature Rat Crown which have high gild chances.
Strategies and Tips
Before entering the Ratdom by Right-clicking on it, the player must be aware that the difficulty level inside is random.
The Rats inside are fairly weak compared to the inhabitants of the Bat Cave Dungeons and Beaver Lodge Dungeons and around equal to an Ant Hill Dungeon, thus making them easier to fight. Most wounds you receive from them can be healed with Yarrow.
Some Combat Moves that will be efficient in such dungeons are Side Swipe and Storm of Swords, though keep in mind that these two require IP (Initiative Points). Moves that do not require IP and are helpful in an Rat Dungeon are Quick Barrage and Full Circle.
The player may encounter rooms within a dungeon that produce an infinite amount of enemies. It would be prudent to avoid staying longer than necessary in such rooms.
