Tanning tubs are used to turn any type of dried hide into leather.

How to Use

In order to make leather in a Tanning Tub, you have to follow the steps below. Leather isn't exactly hard to make, but it is a time-consuming process.

  1. Acquire a raw hide.
  2. Dry the hide by placing it in a drying frame.
  3. Wait 8-24 real-time hours for the hide to finish drying.( [Verify] duration)
  4. Take the dried hide and place it in a tanning tub.
  5. Fill a bucket, using either a well or an open water source.
  6. Obtain a piece of treebark from a tree.
  7. Right-click the treebark on the bucket or tanning tub full of water to add it.
  8. Keep adding bark until the concentration meter is at least 5%.
  9. Wait 30 real-time hours for the hide to turn into leather. When this happens, the hide on the tub sprite will turn a more pronounced shade of brown.
  10. Retrieve your finished leather.

Each tub can hold a maximum of 4 inventory spaces of hide at a time, ie 4x Rabbit Fur, 2x Fox Hide, or 1x Aurochs Hide. The amount of leather you get is equal to the filled spaces. Tanning Fluid is consumed per created unit of leather.

Notes

  • Tubs can hold up to 40 l of fluid. The tanning fluid gets used up - the volume of it goes down when leather is produced.
  • Tanning Tubs need a minimal amount of fluid to keep up production. The fluid is consumed when a hide changes into leather, so if you're using multiple hides, at some point the fluid may become too low, halting progress on the remaining hides. This can be seen on the tub graphic as no fluid showing. It will continue where it left off as soon as you add more fluid.
  • 4 btreebark or 1 Exquisite Rot per tanning tub. 5% per 40l
