How to Acquire
You must have the fishing skill and a fully equipped Bushcraft Fishingpole or Primitive Casting-Rod in order to catch fish.
Use the menu action
to cast your line into a body of water.
Mackerel can also occasionally be found in Tidepools, which occasionally replenish with various fish.
How to Use
Mackerel can be prepared severals ways, including Spitroasting, Drying, or cooked over an open Fire
Once caught and butchered, a Mackerel produces 1 Raw Filets
Use the menu action
To cook a Filet of Mackerel over a fire creates Roast Filet of Mackerel.
Drying a Filet of Mackerel on a Drying Frame takes around 66 RL hours and produces Dried Filet of Mackerel.
Spitroasting a whole Mackerel over a fire using a Roasting Spit creates 2 pieces of Spitroast Mackerel.

Quality
- The quality of the caught fish is determined primarily by map data. The Q on your fishing gear can only reduce fish quality if lower than the fish's.
- The quality of Roasted fish is Softcapped by .
- The quality of Dried fish is equal to the quality of the fish and not affecting by the character or the drying frame
- The quality of spitroast fish is equal to and is Softcapped by the Survival of the character who places the fish on the spit.
