Ball Clay is one of the variations of Clay, which can be used to build structures and craft various items such as Pottery or Bricks

Ball Clay is naturally brownish-gray, but when Kilned, it makes red bricks and pottery. This and Acre Clay are the only clays with non-straightforward colors.

How to Acquire

To obtain Ball Clay, you must find Shallow Water and dig for clay.
Note that the Ball Clay quality is hardcapped by Masonry.

Digging can be done per tile (if need be).
Click "Dig" action, and than left-click some sallow water tile. The hearthling will dig until the tile has no more clay to give.

But digging can also be done in auto mode.
Click "Dig" action, and than use Shift+left-click. While in auto mode the hearthling will scan nearby tiles for clay, if a tile is empty, and continues digging tile after tile while it can.

Digging for Ball Clay can be done on foot, on horseback, or in a boat.

Using a shovel for digging is highly advised. It significantly speeds up the digging process, even with a low quality shovel.
