Cat Gold is a Curiosity which can be used in the Study Report to earn Learning Points.
How to Acquire
Randomly acquired when chipping stone and mining.
Chipping boulders to receive Cat Gold as byproduct is one of the easiest/earliest ways to acquire a curiosity.
Notes
As of Valhalla Rising, (stockpile fix with Bugskatchewan), Cat Gold counts as stone and can be stockpiled as stone.
It can be used instead of stone for paving and various other stone needed things, like houses or stone columns.
This item no longer disappears instantly if you drop it on the ground.
Cat Gold isn't particularly high-grade curiosity, but can be used for Pyrite Spark or as component to craft Golden Cat.
When used for Pyrite Spark there is a very small chance it will turn to Gold Pebbles with a message 'Hey, wait a minute; this isn't catgold!'
Caution
Cat Gold can be used as if they were a regular stone component when crafting items. This can also be a detriment if you are not careful as you can accidentally turn Cat Gold into Stone Arrows or a Stone Axe. It will also be used to pave with, make houses or stone columns with, or level an area with.
Real Life
Cat Gold is direct translation from Swedish "kattgold" equivalent to "fool's gold" in English. Both terms refer to mineral called pyrite.
