Reworked infected sores. Infected sores are now an overlay applied to a particular wound, rather than a wound in and of itself. Using soap on the infection stops it from growing worse while the "Lathered" buff lasts (longer the better quality soap you have), and using a Camomille Compress on the infection stops the infection permanently. Infected wounds can be treated as normal, but the infection now makes the wound itself grow worse. Hopefully adressing concerns raised here. | ||

We had a bit of a crisis of confidence in the new combat system we're developing this week, as the fundamentally reactive nature of it began to give us some serious pause. A problem with the system as it stood last week was that whoever tried to strike the first blow in combat was effectively putting himself in harm's way, with very little chance of actually hitting the opponent, leaving almost all "initiative" in the hands of whoever played the fight passively. This also played into and off of the more general problem that you could always run away from an opponent, with very few recourses for him to get at you. In the presently running system on the real server this is at least less of a problem, since attacks there hit automatically and instantly when within range. We spent a fair bit of time analyzing and discussing this back and forth. Thus: | ||

Drinks, under the new system, can be used to partially prevent/soften satiations. Each drink gives you points in the traditional broad food categories (Meat, Sausages, Bread, &c), accrued in a new buff called "Drink, and be Merry", and every time you then eat, some amount of incoming satiation will be prevented, and a point deducted from the drink category which was used to soften the satiation. Drinks can, naturally, only prevent satiations from the food groups they give points in. Do note that only one drink (the best available) will be used to soften an incoming satiation, so the incentive is hopefully not to necessarily spam all of them. | ||
